Sk 44 FALL Football Song Sung Blue For the third straight season the Mustang Foot- ball team went without a win adding another 0-8 record to the score books. According to head coach Witham, The 1972 football season was far from satisfying. There were too few participants, too few points scored, and no victories posted. There were some redeeming aspects, however, as the coach continues to point out. The few who were there did well and learned a lot about the fundamentals of football. What the Mustangs need in 1973 is a larger number of players. We all hope the coach's advice will be followed and the 1973 football season will be much more successful. Homecoming 72 was a great success. We started the festivities with the traditional bonfire the night before the game. The Bonfire and the Snake dance were attended by most of the student body. The day started out with a lovely parade. The Freshmen took first place with their Drive 'em float and the Sophomores and Seniors tied for third with the Dogies gotta go and Skunk 'em respectively. Half time activities included a performance by the Drill Team and the presentation of the King and Queen candidates. The candidates were as follows: Roseanne Murnion, Rod Coulter, Diane Rath, Mike Ballensky, Roxei Lervick, Randy Brusett, Colleen Saylor, and Rich Lyne. The winners for the 72 Homecoming King and Queen were Rod Coulter and Colleen Saylor. We lost the game 32 to 0. The homecom- ing festivities were concluded with a dance at the multi- purpose room. Over 1,000 dollars was taken in by the various clubs and activities. Contestants were able to participate in such things as the dart throw, basketball toss, ring toss, jello eating contest, cake walk, balloon shaving contest, football throw, and clown toss, to name just a few. A person even had to be careful or he would be persued by officers of law unless he had a Writ of Mandamus. Much hard work goes into the Carnival and we're glad to say that this year it paid off. BOTTOM RIGHT- Wade H. and Pat B. lead- ing the procession out. Smarties of ’73 Valedictorian Dan Murnion Salutatorian Ted Phipps Baccalaurete IFortell As I cruised into Jordan in my Cadillac in 1984, I found it hard to believe how little change has taken place. When I went past O'Connors turn-off sure enough, there was Charlie on his Honda trying to corral the sheep. However, as I passed Charlie Jessen's home I noticed a new trailer house, and in the yard there was Elayne Hinther hanging up diapers. As I passed the airport turn-off, I noticed Ray Lehner kicking the fender of his blue galazy, and swearing because he had just blown the rings out of it again. Then as I breezed past Fellman's, I saw Sali Hoverson still carrying dirty sheets out of the motel rooms. As I looked across the street at the Conoco, there was Ted Browning and John Frady working on another one of Ted's ancient Chevrolets. Suddenly 1 heard the sound of a Jordan pig squeal, and sure enough there was Rick Helm's prize boar dragging Rick up the street, past Currey's house, with Donavon trying to head them off with his International Scout. As I mosied along past the Exxon (after laughing myself sick) I saw Roger feeding squirrels under the hood of Pat Murnion's ole' Snowball . As I turned down main street, I noticed Andeen Schofield, the lady grease monkey repairing Frank and Rosanne Edwards' old Red Ford pickup. In the window of the Country Store, there was a giant petition put up by Joe Gibson and Jay Nunn, trying to have some hitching racks installed on main street. Mean- while Jeff Crane, the new town barber also had a petition up to implement vending machines for grass. At the Drug Store, I saw Darla Rogge jerking sodas and other numerous things. I guess she must have got fired at Sand Springs. At the ASCS office I noticed Laurie Padgett was now employed and building dikes with her Pappy. As I ventured further down main street, I saw on Kemph's Corner, Dan Murnion; and Joe Wheatcroft arguing about which one of them would get the doctor's job in Jordan. Suddenly I heard someone yell, and I looked in my rear view mirror. I saw Becky Hanson and Pat Irish chasing after a run-away goat, which they had headed off toward the resthome. As I turned around at the end of main street I saw Diane Lesher carry- ing a large box of groceries to Bev and Wade Harbaugh's Pontiac, which was already overloaded with tall skinny children. Back by the laundry mat I also saw Ethyl (alias Jo Ryan) and Audrey Liebelt gossiping, as they took Ethyl's pet coyote for a walk. As I was just about at the end of main street again, I saw Rod Coulter coming out of the Liquor Store carrying a fifth of Strawberry Hill out to his wife Lori Coulter, and children all waiting patiently in the car. On my way out of town, I stopped at the Husky Cafe for a cup of coffee. Once I was inside, I recognized Debbie Shawver, Karen Thomas, and Leslie Wells fighting over the tips at one of the tables. As I headed west, I heard that the Vet's clinic had been opened. Just for curiousity I slowed down to have a look. There in front was the Veterinarian Ted Phipps doctor- ing one of Ethyl's coyotes. Ninety-five percent of this probably isn't true. But whatever you do or where ever you go, I'm sure everyone wishes you the best of luck.
