Gimaxing the year was the Pep Club Rally held prior to the tournament. During which the faculty gave the student body an example of their rare basketball and cheerleading abilities. Also at the assembly was a collection of cheerleading beauties from surrounding schools were gathered for a beauty contest. Our own contestant, Terry S., came out wearing the crown. (11) TRACK The 68-69 track season started out well, as the Mustangs won their first meet. After that they attended meets at Forsyth, Richey, Glendive, Terry, district meet; and for the ones that qualified, there were the divisional at Sidney and the State meet at Missoula. New records were set this year by Paul Hoverson in the pole vault and by Sid Bollinger in the broad jump. There were 11 track members tliis year. They were: Paul Hoverson, Sid Bollinger, James Fitch, Tom Billing, Leland Flint. Bill Helm, DaveO’Connor, Doug Weeding, Bradley Wheatcroft, Jeff Landers, Dan Hansard. ORDER IN THE COURT Juniors Go Legal “The night of January 16th” was put on by the Junior class under the direction of Mrs. Ostby. This three act comedy-drama showed the members of a murder trial. Defense attorney, Miss Stevens (Sue Stanton) put up a good fight for her defendant, Karen Andre (Deb Currey), uncovering many startling facts about the late Bjorn Faulkner. The prosecuting attorney, Mr. Flint (Tom Billing) put up a good fight with the help of such witnesses as Mrs. Faulkner (Jackie Porter), and her father Mr. Whitfield (Bucky Billing). No one could be sure of the outcome of the trial till the jury (made up of the audience) brought in their verdict. Typing out master lay-outs is one step in assembling a yearbook. Although, before the staff could actually start work on the yearbook, funds had to be raised. Just to mention a few: skill, spirit, and sportsmanship were traits that played an important role in the G.C.H.S. Intramural games. Under the capable direction of Mr. Woodland, interested spectators viewed many an exciting game of basketball, volleyball, or horseshoe. These games were open to any member of the student body or faculty. At the close of the school year, trophies were awarded to the winning Intramural leagues and tournaments. The Sophomores came out on top in the basketball league, while the Seniors were the champion team of the basketball tournament, as well as the volleyball league. In the horsehoe competition, Dan Currey won first in the singles, with Pat Hensleigh winning second place. First place winners of the men’s doubles were Mr. Nedds and Mr. Wolf. Pat Hensleigh and Lyle Chamberlain were the second place winners. In the mixed doubles, Mr. Woodland and Terry Schmidt held first place, and Mr. Wolf and Judy Coulter placed second.
