Sixty students take advantage of this housing facility. Every year a Dorm council is chosen. They plan and sponsor all dorm activities. Montana Sixteen Years in Garfield County For her unselfish work as a Garfield County teacher, we, the Seniors of 1966, dedicate this Remuda to Mrs. Mildred Hooker. She taught for 6 years in Custer County and has taught 16 years in Garfield County. Twelve of those 16 years have been in the Jordan Public Grade School. Mrs. Hooker at- tended Eastern Montana College and the Uni- versity of Montana at Missoula. School Board Guides GCHS The School Board and Superintendent have the respon- sibility of guiding our high school education. This year the school board granted funds for new science equip- ment including a new aquarium, terrarium, analytical balance, compound microscope plus other useful items. The school obtained an overhead projector, a slide pro- jector, and a new movie screen. Also introduced this year was a driver education program. The advanced band (right) is made up of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders that have at least one year’s experience. Both bands are directed by Robert Singer. JORDAN MEAT MARKET Jordan, Montana RANGE RIDER’S BAR and CAFE Miles City, Montana Sports Mustangs Set New STATE TOURNAMENT At the State Tournament in Helena the Mustangs first opponent was the Edgar Wild- cats. They defeated the Mustangs 77-63. The Mustangs fell to the Winnett Rams and were eliminated from the tournament. Lynne Lufborough was chosen as a second team all-tournament player. DIVISIONAL TOURNAMENT For the first time Jordan brought home a Divisional Trophy. They placed second. The Mustangs defeated Westby 73-59. In the Bainville game the score was tied 51-51. In the last 3 seconds of the game Glenn Hage- man made a 30 foot shot raising the score to 53-51 in favor of Jordan. The team's only loss was to the Brockton Warriors in the Championship game 52-49. In the challenge game on Monday the Mustangs defeated Out- look. As a result of this game Jordan went to state for the first time in the history of the school. JORDAN INSURANCE SERVICE For all your insurance needs call Fred or Wren Records for GCHS DISTRICT CLASS C TOURNAMENT The District 4Class C Tournament was held in Miles City. The Mustangs won the championship bydefeating Plevna 74-70, Sacred Heart 50-40, and Terry 74-60. This, was the Mustangs first championship in 17 years and only the second in the history of the school. In addition to the Championship Trophy the Mustangs brought home the Co-runner-up Trophy for the conference and the Sportsmanship Trophy. Two Mustang players were picked for the all-tournament team. They were Glenn Hageman and Lynne Lufborough. Glenn Hageman was named most valuable player. He has taken ad- vanced courses in math, sciences, and in- tends to study engineering at MSU in Boze- man. He was a delegate to Boys State and received the NMSQT Commendation. Jack Murnion has been active in school ac- tivities including band, library and Student Council. His future plans are to study Civil Engineering at MSU in Bozeman. In prepa- ration for his college career Jack has taken college prep, courses including Advanced Math, and Sciences. He was a delegate to Boys State. The GCHS Band is composed of approximately 37 students and is directed by Robert Sin r. The annual fall concert was performed in honor of all veterans. One of the highlights of the concert was a selection of numbers taken from the period of George Washington and the American Revolution. Each spring, the band attends the District Festival in Miles City. A concert is also given in the spring. Band and Chorus officers are elected by their fellow musicians. TheGCHS Chorus, along with the Band, pre- sented a spring and a fall concert to all students and the community. The main events of the year for the Chorus are the Christmas, concert, Baccalaureate, and Graduation. The District Music Festival at Miles City is another annual event. The entire Chorus par- ticipates in this festival and many members are featured as soloists. The Pep Club is under the direction of Jonette Potts. Members par- ticipated in Pep Band or worked at home basketball games. Booster buttons were sold to help raise money. The club furnished new outfits for the cheerleaders and paid part of their expenses to away games. The Pep Club sponsored a bus trip to Miles City for the Sacred Heart basketball game. _ GCHS Spirit The chief function of the Pep Club is not only to promote school spirit but to run the refreshment stands at home games. Members are busy making pop corn and selling candy, cold drinks and coffee. SAGA Staff After running off the final copies, the news- paper is distributed to subscribers. Librarians Mr. Gerald Griffin is the school librarian. Two librarians are picked from each study hall to help run the library. Some of the jobs they do are checking out books to students, seeing that the books are in proper order on the shelves, cataloging books on cards and many other miscellaneous duties. This year the library has been enlarged by the addition of many new books. There are more non-fiction books than fiction, but plans are being made to have more fiction books next year. The student Council is organized with one member from each class. The Senior Representative is appointed as president, the Junior Representative as the Vice President, the Sophomore Representative as the Secretary, and the Freshman Representative as the Treasurer. Various organizations, such as Letterman's Club, Pep Club, Band and Chorus elect a representative to the Council. The Council advisor is Mr. Safratowich. This year, the Council sponsored three dances: The Freshman Initiation party, a Halloween Costume party, and a Christmas party. A sock hop was held after a basketball game. The Council sets rules for all school activities pertaining to the conduct of the students. It serves as a representative of the student body to the school authorities.
