Class History In the fall of 1948, twenty young monsters began their education. They included: John Anderson, Robert Beard, James Cox, Robert Hageman, Sam McAfee, Ronald Merwin. James Pangburn, James Rogers. Keith Spracklin, Earl Thomas, Walter Wilmont, Terry Hageman, Delores Bollinger, Rochelle Burns. Sharon Davenport, Linda Hinther, Evon Schwindt, Alice Wallace, Jackie Hageman. and Margaret Schlenker. Mrs. Patterson was our first grade teacher and got us off to a good start. We gained and lost classmates for the next eight years until we were left with only nine to graduate from grade school. They were Donna Schmidt, Ronald Merwin, Jackie Hageman. Monte Briggs, Evon Schwindt, Earl Thomas, Alice Wallace, Darlene Watson. Clayton Price, and Carol Hughes. Of these only four were together for the full eight years. They were Jackie Hageman, Earl Thomas, Evon Schwindt, and Ronald Merwin. The next fall, 1956. we, along with country freshmen, began our four years of high school. We were lost in the halls at first, but with initiation and our party soon settled down to our studies. We chose Mr. Matchie as our class sponsor and sold magazine subscriptions to make money for our prom and sneak. With the guidance of Mrs. Hageman we put on a skit from Shakespear's A Midsummer Night's Dream. As sophomores we chose Mrs. Rich as our class sponsor and sold Christmas cards to further our funds. We put on a Lion and Lamb dance in March of that year. Then as juniors we realized how fast the time could go. We chose Mrs. Hageman as our sponsor. We put on our first class play, a three-act Maxwell comedy, under the direction of Mrs. Rich. It was entitled Just Ducky. We chose our class rings that year which had a black magic stone. That spring we decorated for and put on the Junior-Senior Prom with the theme being April Showers. ” In our last and final year, we chose Mr. Perry as our class sponsor and went right to work for our Senior Play, If Mother Only Knew. another Maxwell family comedy. It also was under the direction of Mrs. Rich. The spring was full of events: basketball tournament, music festivals, class night, sneak, baccalaureate, and last but not least, commencement. Of the twenty starting the first grade only four went the twelve years to- gether. They were Evon Schwindt, Jackie Hageman. Earl Thomas, and Ronald Merwin. - Ronnie Merwin -

Class Will We the class of '60 do hereby declare this our last will and testament: To the teachers: we will a large amount of our class funds to pay for all the sleeping pills they must have taken during these last four years. To the juniors: we will our place as dignified seniors. To the sophomores: we will our ability to stay out of trouble and get along with the teachers. To the Freshmen: we will our knowledge to help them graduate easier than we did. We as individuals will: I. Jessie Boughton. will my webb toes to Glenn Hafla. known as Duck, in hopes that they will help him learn to swim as easy as they did me. I. Evon Schwindt, will my ability to sleep in study hall to anyone who can do it without falling out of their desk. I. Virginia Schlepp, will my ability to go steady without fighting to Judith Barcley who seems to be having trouble. I. Dorcas Thomas, will my name. Tody, to Linda Wilson who seems to be lacking nicknames. I. Donna Mosby, will my roommate. Margie Murnion. to anyone who thinks they can live with her as long as I have. I, Earl Thomas, will my ability in basketball to Hugh Highland who doesn't seem to have much either. I, John Witt, will my ability to visit school once a week to anyone who likes trouble with Mr. Perry. I, Jerry Witt, will my interest in girls to Ed Ady who doesn't look as if he needs any help. I. Jay Twitchell, will my two years as basketball manager to anyone who likes to work. I. Donna Schmidt, will my ability to edit the annual without going nuts to the next editor. I, Patsy Ferris, will my quiet dignified ways to Glen Bollinger. I, Frank West, will my elegant manners around women to Bill Meckle who can use some. I, Jackie Hageman, will my blue eyelashes to Toots Brown so she won't have to spend all her hard-earned money for hers. I. Ronnie Merwin, will my hours in GCHS to anybody who will make better use of them than I did. I, Alice Wallace, will nothing, as I'm having a hard time getting by now, to anyone who doesn't need anything. - Jay Twitchell -
