Mrs. Patterson took over the job at Christmas time. The original twenty consisted of: Lyle Bozarth, James Davis, Roger Fellman, Harry Dell Foster, John Hellyer, Henry Jessen, Lloyd Long. Donald Spracklin, William Winfield. Walter Swanson, Arlene Anderson, June Hinther, Karen James, Hazel Mack. Ruth Rath. Donna Riley. Ruth Schaak, Janice Storey. Clara Jean Horn, and Mary Ann MacKenzie. We followed the set pattern for eight years. In the eighth year we went on a sneak to Fort Peck reser- voir and Glasgow. While there we looked the reservoir over and saw Harry S. Truman who was President at the time. We also saw ”T Texas Tyler at Glasgow. Twenty of us received diplomas that spring. In the fall of 50 thirty-six of us entered high school. They were: Mildred Bozarth, Gene Harbaugh, Karen James. Ruby Weeding. Roger Fellman, Sarah Boughton, Jack Brooks, Betty Lou Brown, Fred Brown, Caroline Hawkinson, Betty Hellyer, Monte Highland, Jack Hill, Gertrude Hinther, Rose Hughes, Henry Jes- sen. Our class officers were Gene Harbaugh, President; Dale Krieder, Vice-President; Norman Patterson, Secretary-Treasurer; Caroline Hawkinson, and Jack Hill, Student Council Representatives. This year we lost Betty Lou Brown, Dick Sturtz, Jack Hill and Betty Hellyer. We gained Laverne Hellyer, Judy Witt. Walter Swanson, and Nbrman Patterson. This year we also sponsored the Sadie Hawkins dance. Our class officers were Roger Fellman, President; Laverne Hellyer, Vice-President; Bill Winfield. Secretary-Treasurer; Gene Harbaugh and Judy Witt, Student Council Representatives. Our finer talents were turned to the presentation of the wild and wooly Go West, Young Man ., The play was a huge success. Mr. Donovan Lindgren was our class and play sponsor. We gained no one this YEAR, and lost Jack Brooks. Caroline Hawkinson, and Uverne Hell- yet. We highlighted our Senior year by welcoming the freshmen at initiation. We gained five more stu- dents to bring the total to 30. They were Dick Sturtz, Virginia Kicker, Joyce McMillon. Francis Kountz, and Laverne Hellyer. The amateur actors and actresses of the Senior Class presented a play The Adorable Imp under the skillful direction fo Mr. Schnebiy. This also added considerable to our sneak fund which we took from April 29 to May 1. The new Red Cross offices were held by John Trumbo and Annie Murnion. Mr. Schnebiy was our class sponsor. We also produced this Remuda , the school annual under the guid- ing hand of Mr. Hopper. Of the students who started the first grade in 1942, four received all 12 yearsof their education in Jor- dan. They were Roger Fellman, Ruth Rath. Donald Spracklin, and Bill Winfield. Manager Jordan, Montana June 17, 1964 Miss Hazel Mack Naguda Magoby Uganda, Africa Dear Hazel, I was so surprised to hear from you. After all it's been ten years since we graduated from G.C.H.S. It's an even bigger surprise to learn that you, my old dorm roommate, are actually teaching little African children their ABC's. You'll have to write and tell me all about Africa, and your school. You said you wanted to know all about our old classmates and I'm going to try to bring you up to date. I really don't see many of them very often anymore because my sheepherding job keeps me pretty busy. I did get to town once last fall though, and saw quite a few familiar faces. The first person I saw was Johnny Trumbo and guess what-he's wearing a sheriffs star now. First, he took me up to see his new jail, which was designed by Karen James, and it's really swanky. I wanted to see Karen but she was in Texas designing a presi- dential mansion for Joyce McMilion, who is the first woman president of that nation. I was horrified to find that the only prisoners in the jail were a couple of our old class- mates, Gene Harbaugh and Mike Petitt. They wouldn't tell me what they were in for but the jailer, Walter Swanson, told me about it. Don Spracklin has an oil well about twenty miles from here and Gene and Mike were working on the pump. One day when Don came along unexpectedly, he found them stealing some barrels of oiL From the jail, I went up to the office of the Two-Bit Times. Melvin Mart is the editor and his ace reporter is Gertie Hinther. They were so busy getting out the days paper that they shoved the latest edition in my hands and sat me down in a corner. The first thing that caught my eye was the headline, Dr.Monte Highland, G.C.H.S. gradu- ate has just written THE ANSWER TO DR. KINSEY'S REPORT. Then I noticed another story about Ruthie Rath and Darlene Thomas. It said that they were doing a famous dancing act on Broadway, billed as The Redheaded Rhumba Queens. Below that was a story about Bill Winfield's campaign for U.S. Senator. Predictions are that he’ll win by a wide majority. I was about to throw the paper down when I saw a little notice which said Be sure to see the most thrilling story in years on your TV set next week, Cynthia Saylor's own life story I WAS A COMMUNIST FOR THE FBI. On the back,in the news briefs column, I found out that Irene Schmidt is now the chief Nurse in New York's Zoo and that Ruby Weeding owns the world's biggest shunk farm. Sponsored by REYNOLDS GROCERY, Miles City. Montana 24 It was getting late so I left the newspaper office and went down to buy some gro- ceries. As I walked in who did I see but Francis Kountz andLaverne Hellyer. They were dressed up in the fanciest western outfits I'd ever seen. It seems that Laverne has taken Gene Autry’s place in the movies but since he can't play the guitar Francis does it for him and from the Cadillac they were driving, I'd say they were a money making team. As I carried my groceries out of the store I ran smack dab into someone and knocked the groceries all over the street. When I started to apologize, I discovered I’d run into Dick Sturtz. He helped me pick up my food and told me that he has the biggest grave digging business in town and is known as Digger Dick. Just before I left town I saw Betty Svenson hurrying down the street. I calledtoher and talked for quite awhile. She's married now and has six daughters and lives down at Hell Creek where her husband works for the government raising earthworms to feed the catfish. I haven't seen anymore of the old gang but I do get letters from some of them now and then. Sarah Boughton wrote me not too long ago that she and her husband, Dale Kreider. are in California picking grapes for a wine factory. She said she's seen Mildred Bozarth who is running a famous Hollywood nightclub called The Prairiedog Hole. I got a letter from Virginia Kicker in the last mail. She's president of the world's largest Lonely Heart's Club and she'd succeeded in findinga husband for Annie Murnion who has been too busy writing that soap opera Pa Perkins , to think of marriage. Speaking of marriage did you know that Rose Hughes and Roger Fellmanare the only two ptople from our class besides you and me who aren't married. Rose wrote me awhile back that she's still trying to catch a millionaire and I guess she's got two on the string. The last I heard about Roger was when he wrote to me to find out if there were any unmarried women around here. He's a traveling salesman and specializes in selling ladies stockings to unmarried women, since they don't have anyone to help them resist his charm. Well I've told you all I can think of about the old gang and besides its time to look at the sheep. Be sure to write and tell me about Africa.
