KING MR. BERRY HUGHEY On March 18, 1983, a rally was held introducing the backwards court, which consisted of five senior princes: Tino Amancio, Alex Avelar, Barry Hughey, Eddie Lara, and Freddie Rodriguez. These five outstanding men were chosen by all the senior women to rule over the backwards week activities. On Friday night, March 18 the backwards dance was held at the Garey High Gymnasium and Barry Hughey was crowned Backwards Week King. On March 21 through March 25 activities were held during lunch. The activities during the week were Class Competition, D.J., Backwards Carnival and Powder Puff Football.

The theme for the Prom was Ribbon In The Sky . A free soda bar was provided. Music was played by J + R mobil Disco. The Prom court consisted of three sen- ior princesses: Chris Chavez, Barbara Lopez, and Fritzi Taylor. The three ju- nior princesses were Selina Bumpers, Linda Campos, and Dinnah Donate.
