mmmmss!m PRESIDENT Dr. Craven Edward Williams became the ninth president of Gardner-Webb College, July 30, 1976. He began his first year as presi- dent by challanging the Gar- dner-Webb faculty and staff to perform at the very highest level of academic integrity. Our first responsibility is to be a college of the first order. There is no compensation for second- class education. Mediocrity can- not be acceptable in any part. Dr. Williams has many plans for the future of Gardner-Webb. Starting w ith his ov n position, he has stressed the importance of a one to one relationship betv een administration, faculty, and stu- dents. His doors are always open to the students and people of Gardner-Webb. 14
