Fall .... Students register for classes to begin ttie new year 1972-73. Fresh- men get acquainted with faculty members at the Student-Faculty Re- ception. School spirit was shown at the pep rally preceding our first foot- ball game of the season. Dr. Craig Ratcliff was the guest speaker during Revival Week in September, and Mr. Ronald Wells di- rected the music which ranged from rock, folk, and soul. Entertainment for the month was sup- plied by Denny Brooks, Patty Miller ' n the Dandillion Wine, Henry Groce, and The Stories. Parents Day found interested parents visiting our campus. Planned entertainment and guided tours ' heightened enthusiasm for GWC. October brought a lot of interest in the intramural football games. The dorms competed against each other and Myers was declared the winner for the men, while Nanney was winner for the women. The Distinguished Artist Series brought to campus Charlie Byrd. Founder ' s Day started off Home- coming Weekend. We ' ve Only Just Begun; ' was the theme used for the festivities. Friday night brought the dedication of the Chapel by Mr. Jack Dover and then a concert by Sour aided the Homecoming Celebration. The Home- coming game was exciting against Mars Hill, and was highlighted by the crowning of Miss Ella Harrison as our 1972 Homecoming Queen. Jonathon Moore brought comedy to the stage prior to Ricky Nelson in concert. This concluded Homecoming festivities. November brought the production of THE CIRCLE by the Theatre Arts de- partment. This was a delightful comedy. The B. S. U. met for the annual fall convention at Ridge Crest. Football season faded, and basketball began with a tough home game against Pikeville Kentucky. The score was 99-79. Everyone enjoyed a buffet dinner before the Thanksgiving Holidays. A local band entertained in the cafeteria while students enjoyed turkey and all the trimmings. During the Holidays the basketball team played in the Asheville Tip-Off Tournament. The Anchor staff worked very hard to meet its first copy deadline. Apprecia- tion to Miss Anne Crump.
