FRANCIS B. DEDMOND. ©uft (JkmuaQ Mr. Dedmond not only teaches Freshman English, Sophomore Literature, and Shakespeare, but also coaches a successful team of debators each year. Mr. Dedmond is the brilliant author of our college history, LENGTHENED SHADOWS. For this service Gardner-Webb College will always be indebted to him. Page Thirteen ©uit P tesiofent PHILIP LOVIN ELLIOTT B.A., Wake Forest College, M.A., University of North Carolina; Ed. D., Carson-Newman, Additional Graduate Study, Johns Hopkins University; Gardner-Webb College, 1943 — THE FRIEND ' S OF MY YOUTH, WHERE ARE THEY? Have you ever stopped to be grateful for your youth? It is a priceless possession unless it is contaminated. But you can only make it live in memory. Keats thought one could make it live in art; Shakespeare in poetry. Whether in art, poetry, or pictures it is in memory. Memory can be a very lovely or a very ugly thing. This book is a kind of repository of your imprisoned yesterdays; and it will help you live again with friends in times you do not want to forget. Page Fourteen m W.
