“Zhu Www In starting our history we go back four years to August 28, 1948. This was the most exciting moment of thirty -four anxious students beginning their high school life, To guide us through this year was Miss Suydam, our class sponsor. Our first duty was to elect freshman officers who were to lead us through our first year. They were: President. Maurine Taylor, Vice-president, Bill l-Iockinsong Secretary, Jean Sowers, Treasurer, Anita Hansen. We were then informed that we must select two student council members. We chose Karl Lutz and Mary Lou Compasso as these representatives, We were then in- vited as honored guests to the Freshman Initiation Party, 5P0f150Ted bl' the S8I1i0l'S. We had a gay time with parties, games and other such activities, and before we knew it, the first year was gone. As we returned school for our As we returned to school for our sophomore year, we found the absence of Dick Burkhardt, Dorothy Brown, Florence Elam, Warren Elam, Ann Hobbs and Irene Schultz. This year our class was under the sponsorship of Mr. Black. A meeting of all the classes was called to elect the officers of the coming year. This year we chose: President, Karl Lutz, Vice-president, Marlene Aldersong Secretary, Mary Lou Compassog and Treasurer, Marilyn Ulbrich. This year we had no student council. Our sophomore year was busily spent making money. We were kept busy by selling popcorn, pop, and candy for all games. During Easter we gave a play named Easter Shoes. For Christmas we sponsored the all school party. This year soon had passed and the summer vacation was upon us. Looking over the faces of our junior year we find Carol Hansen, John Jensen, Bob Vignocchi, Marlene Alderson, and Maurine Taylor gone. We made an addition of one of our former classmates, Dorothy Brown, and Betty Wren. Dorothy Brown dropped out later in the year. The class officers elected were: President, Tom Perkins: Vice-presi- dent, Marilyn Ulbrichg Secretary, Anita Hanseng and Treasurer, Bette Lou Gaddo. The class was represented in the student council by Karl Lutz, Norman Sauerwein, and Anita Hansen. The sponsors for this year were Mr, Elwood and Mrs, Johnston, This was one of our most successful years with the Junior play coming up first. The name of this was Where's Grandma under the direction of Mrs. Black. The play cast consisted of Anita Hansen, Mary Lou Compasso, Mary Lou Bally, Rita Krull, Lorraine Jewett, Bette Lou Gaddo, Tom Perkins, Karl Lutz, and Richard Holms.
