Each year about this time it would appear to me that we have just begun a new school year when in reality we are already in the very act of completing the year’s program and at the same time planning for next year’s work. We look back on the activities of 1968-69 and wonder how we will achieve all our goals by the end of June with so much of the work left to be done and so little time left to do it. But, then, we have learned to live in a world of change and at the same time we have learned to adjust with greater ease, each time we are faced with new and unfamiliar situations; therefore, 1 feel confident that we will reach our goals as set out for this year. In the Garden Valley Collegiate things have been happening in 1968-69 at a pace that has placed a great demand on students and teachers — and it would appear to me that most activities have been faced with sincerity and have as a result been quite successful. In the areas of sports, music, choir and drama to mention a few, we have experienced a number of highlights in the present year. We now look forward to achieving a high measure of success in our academic program; and 1 feel certain that this will be the case if students and staff continue to work with the spirit of co-operation and ambition that has generally prevailed during the past months. At this time I congratulate the editor and her staff for the production of this yearbook; it is the product of a fine effort. A special thanks to all students and faculty members for the many contributions that you have made to the total school program throughout the year. As we prepare for the close of this year I look forward with anticipation to “Award’s Night” and “Graduation”; I know that again this year, as last year, these occasions will in a special way give recognition to many deserving students. My sincerest wish for each individual student at this time is that you might receive the promotion for which you have worked and may each and everyone of you have a very pleasant holiday this coming summer.
