49 X, a 1 fl l ' lli' - , rv ' lr 2' gmvfxi, The winning float in i953 was the Sophomores. The float theme was Eagles Give 'Em A Whirl'. It consisted of gayly colored tilt-a-whirls with Virginia Chiches- ter and Bonnie Newlin .riding in them. The Senior class won third prize with the theme We're Expect- ing Victory'. Micky Wilson, Norman Peterson and Boyd Billingsly rode on the float. Second prize was given to the Junior class with their We'll Clean Up Todayn.

In April 1953, Miss Karen Rent- zsch, Junior in G.C.H.S. was pre- sented the honor of being FFA Chapter Sweetheart. She was pre- sented with o blue rayon satin iacket with an FFA Emblem on it. At the same time Doug Olson and James Charles were elected Honor- ary Members of the FFA and present- ed awards.
