Johnson A student while attending school has many opportunities to be recognized for outstanding work. Perhaps the highest and hardest achievement to attain is membership in the National Honor Society. . This group was organized in 1948. Those accepted for membership proved outstanding in scholarship, service, character, and leadership. This organization requires highest standards and gives members a high goal for which to strive. We feel that these selected students are truly the leaders of our school and will continue to be leaders throughout their lives.

The International Quill and Scroll is an honor society for superior journalistic achievement among High School Journalists. Students in order to be eligible for this honor must have written a minimum of 60 inches of accepted copy or have contributed out- standing work Editorially or in management. They must maintain a minimum 'B' average in all High School subjects and receive the recommendation of the Publications adviser as well as be acceptable to the Faculty Honorary Committee. The society was established in 1947. Its purpose is to create the spirit and incentive of high ideals in journalism. Students selected to the society are entitled to wear the Quill and Scroll Pin to signify their membership in the Society.
