They first played a concert of Chamber Music on November 13. Next they assisted the Glee Clubs in a concert on December 18. The Hi-Y received spiritual food by listening to inspirational speakers. Highlights for the year included the District Conference for which Garden City was host. The Pre-Legislative Conference at Hays was attended by ten Garden City boys. The Hi-Y Youth and Government Program in Topeka was attended by seven Garden City boys. Here, bovs from all over Kansas played the part of law makers for the state in the State House. Loren Wilson was elected Chaplain of the Senate. Robin Shirkey served as a senator while John Nanninga, Whitney Hicks , Melvin Kemp, Richard Lotton, and Dale Steven- son served in the House of Representatives. A number of the boys attended a conference at Dodge City February 18. The Hi-Y and Kayette party was early in January.
