The Elementary UIL participants from Garden City won first place at the District Meet held in Sterling City with a total of 97 points. Seventeen of the twenty- nine students in UIL placed in District. In Oral Read- ing in the Sth and 6th grade division, Staci Wilkerson earned first and Bryan Stringer earned second. In the 7th and 8th grade division, Allen McDowell received second. In Spelling and Plain Writing in the 5th and 6th grade division, Staci Wilkerson placed first, Rosemary Rameriez placed second, and Colleen Covert placed third. In the 7th and 8th grade division, Andrea Fre- rich received first, Amy Smith received third, and Dora Garcia received fifth. In Ready Writing, Andrea , Frerich placed second and Kim Hirt placed sixth. In 1 Number Sense, Anita Jansa placed third and in Story Telling, Laurel McDowell placed third. The Picture Memory team which consists of Douglas Helscher, Stephanie Frerich, Michelle Polendo, Laura Rameriez, and Shirley Clifton placed fourth. TOP ROW LEFT TO RIGHT: Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Sheen, Mrs. Fry, Mrs. McDaniel, and Mrs. Cook helped pre- pare our Winning Elementary UIL team for competition.
