H82 HOME ECONOMICS ff 53 '-1? .M Home Economics has been a part of Garber Hih School for the last six year-'. A It has for its aim in cooking, the planning and serving of hot lunches. The sewing department, plans. the sewing of plain garments and Domestic Art. ff fs 2 V X. Home Economics starved in the old building in 1919 with a kitchen shower given aff . . . by the students and the donation of three sewing machines by the Red Cross. The T51 equipment has increased to twelve hundred dollars. Garber High School offers a three year course in Home Economics. The first sis' year consists of one semester of elementary sewing and one semester of ele- 1 Eiif, vs! A A. Nia. fff. ' Z mentary cooking. Theriei are over twenty girls enrolled in this class, and with the assistance of the Third year class, they are doing the cooking for the cafeteria. The second year includes advanced work in cooking the first semester while the last semester is Domestic Art. 'Q' ,Z 4 f 27 ff' 72 ui 032 ' Only Juniors and Seniors are allowed to enroll in this work. The third year takes up household decorations and furnishings ,and first aid, They are required ENR KN is NC' Y? Zn 7 to cook the most elaborate foods. There are about s1xty-five girls enrolled in all three classes. Mrs. Harrington has always been the head of the Home Economics department.
