Mr. Harfst obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in 1958 from Michigan State University. In 1964 he received his Master s Degree from Central Michigan University. Mr Harfst has been teaching for 18 years. 12 here at Garber. He has been our Vice-Prin- cipal for the past five years and is now our Principal. Mr. Grobbel has been teaching and coun- seling at Garber for 13 years, and had pre- viously been teaching four years at an- other school. In 1959 he received his Bachelor's Degree at Central Michigan University. Seven years later he received his Master’s Degree at Michigan State Uni- versity. Miss Wagner, the new Vice-Principal at Garber, has been teaching for nine years. She received her Bachelor's Degree in 1967 at Central Michigan University, and in 1971 she received her Master’s Degree. Miss Wagner's most famous lines are. ‘ Where are you supposed to be?.” and Do you have a pass?” After leaving Central Michigan University. Mrs. Grobbel taught for two years. She then came to Garber and has been here for ten years as a counselor. In 1957 Mrs. Grobbel received her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. She is currently work- ing on her Master’s Degree in Counseling and Guidance. Mr. Gaffke is the new Community School Director. Mr. Gaffke graduated from Michigan State in 1966. and then went to Saginaw Valley until 1976. He says he likes the way people treat him. Mr Gaffke's job is to be in charge of the entire Community School Program. Mr. Kennedy, a current guidance counsel- or. has been teaching at Garber for three of his 15 years of teaching. In 1961 Mr. Kennedy obtained his Bachelor’s Degree Two years later he received his Master’s Degree from Western Michigan University. One would wonder if that’s where he learned to say. Board Of Education The Board of Education is the policy making organization for the Essexville- Hampton school district, which includes three elementary schools, the Junior High, and the Senior High Schools. Th“ Board meets on the second Monday of each month, with special meetings called once or twice a month, depending on need. There are seven trustees on the Board. Each are elected to a four year term. Two trustees are elected (or re-elected) each year, except on every fourth year. Mark Jaffe is the President of the Board. Terry Adcock is Vice President, Carl Newingham is secretary, Victor Gansser is treasurer, and Dr. John Grigg, Don Massnick, and Ed Trahan are all trustees. 5 Board of Education: L to R: Mr Trahan. Mr Bird has been teaching for 17 years, 12 of them have been here at Garber Mr. Bird is well-known for his plays. He attend- ed Michigan State University, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's de grees in 1958 and 1968 respectively. Mrs. Timm has been one of our English teachers here at Garber for 13 years, and has a total of 21 years teaching exper- ience. She received her Bachelor’s degree in 1933 from the University of Michigan Mrs. Timm received her Master's in 1962 and 30 hours over her Master’s from Cen- tral Michigan University. Mrs. Timm's fam- ous quote is To err (ur) is human; to forgive divine. Mrs. Maurer, one of Garber's six English teachers, has taught here at Garber eight of her nine years as a teacher. In 1968 she received her Bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University, and her Master's degree in 1972 from Michigan State University. Mrs. Bird has been teaching English for 13 years all of which have been at Garber. She attended Marygrove College where she received her Bachelor's degree in 1964. and Central Michigan University for her Master's degree in 1971. Mrs. Bird's famous quote is. Write a well organized, well-developed composition Mrs. Irving has been teaching for eight years all of which have been spent here at Garber In 1968 she received her Bache- lor's degree from Saginaw Valley State College. She then attended Central Michi- gan University where she obtained her Master’s degree in 1972. Mr. VanLooy has been teaching for 11 years at Garber. He has been teaching for a total of 12 years. In 1965 Mr VanLooy received Bachelor's degree at the Univer- sity of Michigan. Three years later he re- ceived his Master’s degree at Central Michigan University. 7
