Mr. Bibart told Yearbook. “This group of athletes has been the hardest working and most coachable bunch of guys I have ever had the pleasure of work- ing with. They provided me with a number of thrilling mo- ments that I shall never forget. Such as beating a very tough undefeated Bridgeport club; the game at Traverse City in the snow, when we were tied at halftime, but came back strong to win going away; and of course, the last victory against All Saints, which concluded our undefeated season. It was a real TEAM effort all season, as those linemen of ours blasted huge holes for the backs to run through. And we had an excellent group of backs who knew what to do when they got through those holes.” 66 Frosh Have Perfect Record 7-0 We had excellent backs and the linemen up front did a terrific job in opening up holes. Defensively our freshmen held the oppo- nents to 27 points throughout the season. This tied a school record, which earned them their nickname the Crunch Bunch. The players, managers, statisticians, and en- tire coaching staff worked together which helped us to reach the goal of a 7-0 season. FRONT ROW. L to R: B. Clarke. G. Fulco. R. Johnson. S. Tweedie. J. Included in those victories were the NBC championship and the Class B District title. For the second straight year the Dukettes were regional finalists. Jill Jacobs and Chris Humphrey had excel- lent seasons and received the highest individ- ual honors. Both were named to THE BAY COUNTY SPORTS PAGE All-City Team. Barb Raeck received honorable mention to the NBC team. Jill led the team in rebounding, in field goals, in steals, and in blocked shots. Chris led the team in total scoring and in assists. Teamwork, hustle, and pride were the keys to the team’s success. They were one of Garber's finest defensive teams allowing their opponents only 41 points per game. BACK ROW: Amy Falvey. Coach Mary Anne Jacobs. Judy Jacobs This year, as in previous years, the varsity cheerleaders went to the U.S.C.A cheerleading camp. In order for them to do this, they held fund raising projects this summer, such as car washes. They did quite well at camp, taking a ribbon for both their skit and their pom-pom routine. This season, they have shown Garber their spirit by making the hoop which the players run through, plastering signs on the team's houses, having a dinner for the basketball team and, of course, firing-up the crowd. 79 J.V. During the year they held an assortment of fund raising projects. The girls did such things as baking cookies for their teams for each game. 80 Freshman Cheerleaders Learn The Freshmen Cheerleaders kept themselves busy this year. Besides just cheering at the games, they sold Garber Duke stickers, sold raffle tickets for $100 worth of beef, and put posters up on the players lockers. The 1976-1977 Garber Aristocrat was the joint effort of many students. Students had opportunities to gain experience in typing, proof-reading, page-lay-out, de- sign. and photography. The staff photographers were ably assisted by a number of assistants dubbed “The Dark-Room Rats . In addition to expanding the size of the yearbook, many new ideas were aired; some of which were incorporated in this year’s book and others which will make their appearance next year. There is also a possibility that several staff members will be attending a workshop at Crystal Lake during the sum- mer. There were also many non-staff members who helped out at key times and we do want to thank them at this time. Special note should be made of the fine jobs done by several of the staff members. Bill Mrozinski, Dave Weaver, and Rose Salman share most of the photo- graphic honors. Dennis O'Dell did a good job at our page lay-out department. Theresa McNally did a super job at the typewriter with final checking and packing. And finally, Margaret McNally who did a superb job as editor-in-chief and keeping track of the book's pro- gress. no Band Plays On FIRST ROW. L to R: Mr. Gaffney. H Foss. J McFarland SECOND ROW: D. That is the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake af night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by eviblunatics, or know your honor trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then — to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it.
