HUMANITIES The objective of the Division of Humani- ties is the preparation of the students for a life that has breadth of interest and depth of knowledge. Its aim is to maintain UK- liberal tradition in a Christian education. The faculty of the Humanities Division is admirably suited for its purpose. A cross section of their members reveals a high per- centage of experienced educators, quali- fied by years of recognition in research and writing to provide the instruction necessary to the formation of the well-rounded grad- uate. To form an effective counter-balance to these more experienced men, the Hu- manities Division also includes a solid con- tingent of younger teachers, who already have demonstrated their erudition and abilities through exceptional records, both as students and as teachers. The production of thinking Christians, well trained in those fields that are neces- sary to the useful, active citizen, is the aim of Gannon College. The excellent humani- ties faculty, under the experienced lead- ership of Dean Louis Lorei, is a prime fac- tor in the realization of that end. Rev. Louis H. Lorei, Dean of Humanities History RICHARD L. BEYER Professor; Director, Department of History A.B. Allegheny College: M.A. University of Iowa; Ph.D. Uni- versity of Iowa THOMAS F.
