Aiello's new way to double-date. Father Schanz explains the Greek ety mology of laughter. To avoid the two-dimensional graduate who is lost in a three-dimensional world, Gannon Col- lege encourages each student to participate in the activities of his choice. There exists on cam- pus a multitude of clubs and organizations to fill the needs of the student. Off campus, in inter-collegiate relations with the girls' schools of Erie, the school encourages a mature and friendly approach. Bishop Wright indicates the importance of extra-curricular activities when he states, I have often thought that the boys who put the cow in the belfry at Harvard University some years ago learned some- thing in the process more important than any- thing they learned in the lecture halls during all the years that they were there. In any event, they got something out of their systems, which is a fairly important part of the process of growing up, too. I earnestly hope that they were not expelled if they were found out, be- cause such students, if they remained undiscov- ered and at Harvard, undoubtedly became trustees of the place if only because they had more initiative, inventiveness and plain get-up- and-go than those who told them not to try it because it couldn't be done.

A clothes-line drive into left-centerl Action is always fast at the Audi A dramatic new sports program was inaugu- rated this year with the arrival of Mr. Lazlo Doemeney, Physical Education Instructor. Mr. Doemeney brings to the Gannon campus a col- orful background and a wealth of experience in the world of sports activities. His efforts have given a new vitality to the Gannon intramural sports program. He was instrumental in form- ing teams for diving, water polo, table tennis, tumbling, fencing, and physical training. In ad- dition to its intramural program, Gannon com- petes in five inter-collegiate sports — basket- ball, baseball, golf, tennis, and rifle, under the direction of varsity coaches, Milton Simon, George Hesch, and Richard Fox. Sports were definitely not excluded in the new development program. One of the proposed developments includes a field house with a football field, a basketball court, and a swim- ming pool. This new recreation area is de- signed with an eye to the physical welfare of the growing student population and will cover an area of about 30,000 square feet. This is just one more example of Gannon's theme and our theme — planning for progress.
