Sc tCC s4Ct Education is based on a pro- found conception of life and grows out of a system of philosophy, Gannon College accepts as its premise the principle of building the whole man; teaching a man not only how to make a living, but how to live. In addition to desiring that its graduates obtain the finest education possible, Gannon also desires that its men be of sound character. The Idea of a Uni- versity by John Henry Newman expresses what Gannon strives to achieve. With these thoughts in mind, the founders of Gannon College established and maintain the col- lege for the higher education of men through the harmonious development of religious and intellectual habits of its students. Intellectual habits are devel- oped by training in the humanities, philosophy, social, natural, and applied sciences with special emphasis on the methods in which the conclusions are drawn . . . 10
