iS' %ce Bishop Edward P. McManaman has been a man of action in the formation of Gannon's Christian principles. From his position as secretary of the Board of Trustees, he has recognized the importance of a sound education and strived to create a mold that will produce sincere Catholic laymen. Through the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, Bishop McManaman established a means that will enable Gan- non graduates to transfer their Christian heritage to the younger generation. His ideals and educational experiences have been rewarding assets in fostering an institution that trains the students in their field of endeavor and in the means of at- taining their final end, eternal happiness. Archbishop Gannon has succeeded in both the construction of our great school and the development and training of young men. The buildings number fifteen, the en- rollment fifteen hundred. Through his financial aid, Gannon has grown from Old Main to the sixteenth largest college in Pennsylvania. From the wisdom acquired through more than fifty years in the priesthood, the Chancelor of Gannon College has enriched the lives of numerous young men with educational and spiritual ideals which reflect in the character of the graduates. The development of the whole man through the formation of intel- lectual, physical, and spiritual principles is the design of this outstanding clergyman.
