Marriage counselor, BILL DEFOE, is giving his unwelcome hot tips to BOB STANGLE and TAMI MARCELLUS while tax consultant. GERRY MCKENNA is attempting to force his business cards on DAWN DROPPER and DAWN MOORE. SUE DOYLE and IRENE PATIENCE are comparing military uniforms and honors, and attempting to outdo one another when suddenly all eyes shift to the doorway where hiking co-ordinator, ARLENE RHODES, and her apprentice, WAYNE POTTER, are escorting hermit JIM HAMMOND, who has just descended from Mt. Hiya-Hiya. Secretaries CHERI GOMULA, HEIDI ROTHMEYER, JEANNINE PAUZE, SANDI COLLER and MARGARET PALMATEER rush over to get the latest from the mountain man for their minutes. Wow! there’s a commotion going on! Drummer STEVE SMITH and flutist, VICKI SLEEPER are flailing their arms and going tooth and nail over who will make the first guest appearance with the band; while baseball player, JEFF CURRAN and basketball star, JOHN O’NEIL are trying to match their wits against pro-volleyball champ, BEVERLY BURNETT. Compiling their best record in history, 17-0, and extending their unbeaten dual meet streak to 28 consecutive victories. In addition they also copped invitational wins at Chenango Valley, Cobleskill and at the Grout Run (Where they defeated the eventual s'mall school state champs — Schuylerville). The Golden Eagles recorded 12 shutouts in dual meet action, also a school record, as they swept over the competition (both small and large schools). For the 2nd consecutive year the Eagles were also crowned both T-V league champs, as well as, Section Class D-E champs. Leading the way for the Eagle Harriers were league All-Stars: Stan and Scott Armer, Steve Bornitzke, Mike Manning, Brian Sherman, Cindy Heflin and Kathy Eaton. Both the boys and girls teams were league champs in ’78. 1978 Dual Meet Scores (low total wins) Galway 23 Galway 21 Galway 15 Galway 17 Galway 15 Johnstown 34 Fonda 37 Amsterdam 50 Canjo 43 Albany 49 Galway 15 Galway 15 Galway 15 Galway 15 Galway 15 Cobleskill 48 Bish. That’s taking things in stride. One of those back breaking moments. 123 The Varden Portrait For some people, a diploma is not enough. Some people feel that there should be more to graduation. More than just a diploma. A timeless commemorative of your graduation is the Varden portrait. Your Varden portrait will speak with distinction. For over 30 years, the name Varden has meant the ultimate in portraiture. When you graduate, don’t settle for less. Ramark Varden STUDIOS INC. C R Restaurant Charles and Ruth Quinlan, Prop.
