With friendship, love, and many thanks, the student body of Galway Central, and particularly the Class of 'll, proudly dedicate this yearbook to James Davenport. This year's Seniors first enjoyed this man as our seventh grade English teacher, and the friendship has been growing ever since. Though he was never a class advisor, we were always able to go to him for help. His additions to the library go without saying. The sincere concern that he has for people is shown through his coaching, his directing, and his friendships. 9 s C RICHARD J. BOUFFARD 1930 — 1976 COUNSELOR, COLLEAGUE, FRIEND. The air buzzes with excitement. Tohight's the night - opening night, that is, of Galway’s newest, and only, Sports Arena - The Jolly Jocks and Jockettes Memorial Gymnasium. The year is 1987, ten years after all tonight's guests graduated from this illustrious institution. The guests are being ushered into the Arena’s only restaurant, Goven’s Jock, owned by DAVID STOKNA. His head waitress, MARY ELLEN HALL, is having a tete a tete with bouncer FRANK TOKAROWSKI. Galway's answer to Hugh iTefner, JACKIE COLE, appears at the door with two of his favorite bunnies, CINDY WIELT and BRENDA MURTLOW. Food for this occasion is being supplied by DAVID DENISON, owner of Denison Bros. Market, TOM BRANN, owner of the local state store, DONA FREDERICK, winner of this year's Betty Crocker Bake-Off competition, and DOUG MAYNARD, who supplies us with hot dogs from the Grand Union. Music has been filtering through the intercoms overhead. No doubt, BILL MIL-TON, the electronics expert of North America, has had his hand in on this. Along with his trusty helpers PAULA GUNDRUM and sound technician CASEY ST ANGLE, the music of Howard Kalinsky is out of this world. Here come the Arena's hairdressers and cosmetologists, who keep the athletes in the latest hairstyles and make-up, LINDA DENISON, PAM SHERMAN, GINGER MORAN, and JANICE BUTLER. And, at a far off table, there sit the three architects, JIM BOLDUC, MIKE WILSON, and JACKIE JONES, who are discussing fees with their lawyers JOHN CAREY, FRED THIMM, who won a Gold Medal in the Olympics for skiing, and MARGARET VAN VOAST, who was dubbed F. Lee Bailey’s only competition. ALAN JEZIERSKI, a paralegal assistant is busy discussing hieroglyphics and writer's cramp with court stenographer ROBIN HOFFMAN, CAROL CWIAKALA, and MARCIA TRETIAK, the bionic business woman. At another table close by, ERIC CHASE, ace accountant, is working feverishly with his calculator and mathematicians SUE STANTON and SHARON OLENDORF. They are presently having a heated discussion with Nobel Prize Winner CINDY WEMPLE and computer experts JOHN SCHIED and TERRY PAUZE, about K-Mart calculators, which are a pretty yellow color” versus your fingers and toes, which aren't a pretty yellow color. The party is about to break and progress to the arena itself, but, not before the arrival of Bob Marley look-alike BRIAN O'NEIL, KRAIG MYERS, professional speed reader, DAVID ABRAMS, who still buys a record a week, and DONALD O’NEIL, who, pen and pad in hand, is making up poems using all the letters of the alphabet he can think of. The front doors of the arena are about to close as the last influx of late comers finally wander in. They are led by artists KEITH BAKER, DALE CAREY, and MICHAEL WEISE, who at one time sang with The Carpenters. Behind them are WENDY MAY, Galway’s answer to Rapunzel, who is late because of florist JEFF 50 SOWLE, and PAT GIBBINS, owner of the Lionel Train Co. They are talking with PETE LYONS and CHRIS RUNDELL, who own Run-yons garage. The doors are just about to be locked as TINA DONNAN, Galway’s lone woman rancher, and LAYLA VAN HALL, come up. Pushing in behind them is JIM ORZO-LEK, safari hunter, who is late because Hertz-Rent-A-Car agent LINDA RADIGAN was busy with another customer, MATT RISDELL, the only live kamikaze pilot left in the world. The doors finally close, leaving travelling saleswoman SARAH CLIFFORD banging on them, trying to peddle her goods. She is taken away, though, by state policeman PAUL WIELAND and Marine Corps drill sergeant MARK PATIENCE. All the guests have moved into the arena and are taking their seats. In the center of the arena is the ice rink where KELLY MORRISON, who is supplying the water for the rink, RON O’BRYAN and BARBARA ALDERSON sit. Barb is busy testing the ice for impurities and pollution. BILL PALMER, famous archaeologist, is at the other end of the rink digging artifacts. Meanwhile, STEVE McCHESNEY is below ground treating the ice-polo ponies to a free feed from his store. Polo jockeys BILLY PALMATEER, JEANNE ARNOLD, STACY BORNITZKE, LYNETTE MANELL, LYNNE WILKES, and WENDY SHARPE are discussing tonight's strategy. Wait! Over to our left on the basketball court is MIKE WILKINS, basketball player who sidelines as a psychiatrist, who is having his fragile knees poked at by DR. RANDY REYNOLDS, famous veterinarian, and devoted Florence Nightingales CHRISTY LUKASIEWICZ and KATHY WALLACE. Well, folks, you've all heard of the Man From Glad; well here comes the Man From BOCES - JASON GERMAIN. With him are social workers BARBARA CETNAR and CINDY LARRABEE, who specialize in working with teacher's pests, and FRED MILLIAS, their latest case. Out of the locker room door come the remaining jocks; JOE COLLINS the baseball player, and BOB SOWLE, also a baseball player, who works as a lumberjack in his off seasons. Following them is marathoner MARK ROGERS. Behind them are millionaires GENE ROCKWOOD and VERN WETMORE. Psychiatrist DAWN SZUREK is running around furiously trying to analyze everyone, including TIM SMITH. BETH LOVELESS and DONNA JOHNDROW are having coffee and discussing the good ole days. ALISON HILGER and APRIL FARRELL are discussing a new format for their game show 20 Dumb Questions while BELINDA NICHOLS, who works in the U.S. Mint coining nickels, is talking with TOM SICK-LER who just flew through the immense plate glass windows on his snow machine. DIANE LACHTRUPP is busily writing her own review of her new Broadway play, The Galway Saga. SALLY RECKNER, as usual has nothing to say. WAYNE SHERMAN is sleeping and TOM GUNDERSEN is again absent. DAVID McCONCHIE has generously invited us to his campgrounds for a pow-wow after the ceremonies. Suddenly a yell goes up from below on the ice. BILL PALMER has discoverd an artifact and is removing it from the ice. It is the 1977 Galway Piper! As the crowd becomes nostalgic, stock-market whiz Dan Connelly grabs a microphone and announces once more, It’s not too late to drop the course! 51 LANOCHE Junior The class of '77 held their Junior Prom on June 5, at the Spanish Galleon in Amsterdam. Music was provided by The Ronnie Williams Quartet. The room was filled with many happy faces, laughter and excitement. The night will be a most memorable one for all who attended. A special thanks to Mrs. Johnson and the chairman, Dona Frederick, and all those who helped make it a great success.
