MR. FRANK HYDE District Principal It's hard to imagine that we are in a period of revolution in education, but as our present seniors look back through the pages of this yearbook they will recognize that education in 1971-72 was definitely a year of change. Right now we see this school year as a year of belt-tightening, a period of cutbacks and reduction of programs. But out of all of this may come a new epoch for education, introducing new methods and new techniques. The students of the Galway Central School are participating in an exciting era and this yearbook will help to remind them, in the years ahead, that they were right in the middle of it. I am confident that we will all be better citizens as a result of being enthusiastic participants during this momentous period. During the past few years discipline has become an unpopular word, but I hope that we at Galway were able to implant in you that disciplines are essential to organize society, whether it be in school or when you are out on your own. An ordered and disciplined life gives us freedom to do things we want to do. Just being alive imposes chores and forces us into certain disciplines. Unless a man has the talents and knowledge to make something of himself, freedom becomes an irksome burden. What good is freedom to choose if because of the lack of knowledge and self-discipline we become ineffectual. Never stop seeking knowledge of working toward self-discipline. Best of luck 6 MR.
