farewell Address MR. CLAYTON BROWN Superintendent of Schools Mr. Clayton H. Brown was born on December 10, 1896 at York, New York. He attended the York Grade School and the Greigsville High School where he graduated in 1916. After graduating from high school, he went to Carnegie Tech, Geneva College, University of Rochester where he received an A.B. in 1923, then he went on to Cornell University where he then received his M.A. in Education. His teaching career was enhanced by teaching positions at Lindenhurst, Long Island and West H.S. Rochester where he taught science in both schools. Later he became principal of the Findlay Lake, Greenwood, Arkport, and Hadley-Luzerne schools. He was elected District Superintendent in 1936 and assumed duties on August 1, 1936 succeeding Dr. Abram Hollister. At that time he had 37 schools in his Supervisory District. Now the number has been reduced to three, those are Corinth, Galway, and Edinburg. He has participated in organization of the Hadley-Luzerne Central School, Corinth Central School, Galway Central School, and the Saratoga Springs enlarged City School District. Mr. Brown, we appreciate everything you have done in the development of our school and this is a token of our appreciation and gratitude. THANK YOU!

MR. FRANK HYDE The students of the Galway Central School have much of which they can be proud. They have a fine new building, (one of the best in the state), new facilities and the best of equipment. The faculty is made up of the best qualified teachers available. Each is an expert in his field and is both competent and qualified. The school is noted for its outstanding scholarship and its competitive spirit. We tend to accept these qualities as a matter of course. Too often we think of a school as a building. It is more than that. We could have a school without a building. A school is the student body, the faculty, and the staff. Without them, there would be no school. Therefore, we must have pride in ourselves. We must have faith in one another. Everyone must have this sense of pride if we are to have an outstanding school. We must know we are the best. Once we have this confidence in one another, we will be unbeatable. It will be then that we will assume our role of leadership among the schools of the state. 1 know that day will be soon.
