Class of 962 We pick up the HOLTSLANDER Journal and read that GERALD SCHRADER has moved to Spain, where he has become a matador. We also notice a gossip column on the last page by that woman-around-town, MARIANNE ELLSWORTH. Next we visit the Gregory Memorial Hospital. RITA ARMITAGE has landed her first job as nurse there, while PAT MITCHELL, also a nurse, has landed her first intern. Nurse JO-ANN FOLEY is assisting surgeon NORM MURAUSKAS as he performs a nationally televised brain operation, which he learned from reading a pocketbook edition of BRAIN SURGERY MADE EASY. There is a protest from the patient, but Lawyer JOHN BOSHART argues that, since Murauskas amputated both of the patient's legs, the client does not have a leg to stand We leave the hospital and run into JACKIE LYONS. She tells us she went to make her fortune in the outside world but came back by popular demand ... of the outside world. We pass through the downtown section and go by the J. McCHESNEY department store. It helps support the town organizations out of its large coffers. We pull up to the town hall and sit inside to visit with Mayor JOHN SKORNY, who was elected by an overshelming minority. We see his Press Secretary LINDA GRANT discussing the coming election with John’s campaign manager ART WELSH. As we step out of the hall we see those two business tycoons DICK SMITH adn BILL CHAMPAGNE, owners of the Utopian Business International. We go in the Post Office to mail a letter and meet MALE clerk NADINE McCON-CHIE. Postmaster General LINDA SHERMAN is talking to her mailman, CARROLL HOUGHTON. As we pass the museum, we hear artist ELEONORE ADAMOSCHEK yelling at owner KATHY INGRAHAM for hanging one of her paintings upside down. We look up and notice that RON CHERNIK is high in the sky above us, kept up there by his anti-gravity belt. The city, taking advantage of this, has given him his trombone so he can play Night Train while he is up there. This way he serves as the city beacon. And now, as we regretfully depart, we notice that on each corner there is a naval reservist with his shotgun: RAY LANFEAR, DICKPATEREK, PETE TRAIDER, and LES McELHINEY. We sleep well. Our Navy Reserve is awake.
