There were thirty of us and we were full of excitement in our first high school year. Two events stand out in our memories. The first was the day a certain freshman handed Mr. Gorga a science 9 homework assignment with a slice of bologna in between the sheets. Smiling, Mr. Gorga was quite disturbed over this; it seems someone forgot the mustard. The other event was our freshman get-acquainted party in the school. This party was so unique that it will be remembered for years by those who attended. Twenty-seven proud sophomores were in room five the next year. The year was a hard one as we had to break in a new advisor, Mr. Sengenberger. We did a good job and soon he became a real friend. We started our funds for the yearbook by sponsoring a card party in the spring. We completed sixteen pages of the yearbook and received a color picture in the front of the book. Our junior year passed as fast as the wind. This was due to Mr. Sengenberger who made all our work interesting. He worked as hard as all of us at the basketball games, dances, and on the yearbook. When it came time for work, Mr. Sengenberger was always there, sometimes even alone, unfortunately. The work on the yearbook was made interesting because of his comments and ideas. In April we had a class party in school and Mr. Sengenberger volunteered to clean up so we could have fun. Our big event was the Junior Prom. Here the class showed its skill as 510 square yards of cheesecloth was dyed, stapled, and hung in the gymnasium. The Queen and her court were chosen by the Junior boys and Mr. Sengenberger. We all showed up early Sunday morning and cleaned up while Mr. Sengenberger supervised. The class was shocked at the end of the year by the news that Mr. Sengenberger was leaving. The class of 59 will never forget Mr. Sengenberger, our advisor and friend for two years. The senior class had only 25 members to finish school with Miss Blessing as our advisor. When Linda Sherman was stricken with polio the class contributed and gave her a gift. We also gave a gift to Mr. Sengenberger for his wedding. The senior class held several dances during the year. All the members of the class have been sad as they thought of graduation, for the four years of high school have been interesting and fun. But we shall graduate with the knowledge that we made the most of our last months together, as the class of 1959. Dramatics The Play entitled Belevedere was presented by the Galway High Dramatics Club in November of 1958 under the expert direction of Mrs. Lukasiewicz. The play was about a Mr. Belevedere who applied for a babysitting job at the King's. It so happened that Mr. Belevedere was a genius and he expected to be treated as such. After the publication of the book he became famous and proved to everyone that he really was a genius. The Kings agreed to let him buy their house and to come and work for him by taking care of their own children for a reasonable fee. Behind the Scenes FIRST ROW: Conductor - Mr. Lukasiewicz. D. Wolfe. It is a symbol of progress and much credit is due to the parents and teachers who made it possible. Although this building may lack the traditional ivy to render it warmth, the true school, teachers and children, working and playing together, is a unit of inner warmth.
