P. T. A. The Parent-Teacher Association of the Galway Central School has met the first Wednesday of each month from October through May. The Program Committee has as its theme for the year: Building a Deeper School Spirit and as its aim: To create a spirit of school citizenship in parents, children and teachers. Each meeting has been integrated into this theme. The Ways and Means Committee has sponsored a series of Pie Parties, well attended and financially successful. The annual Harvest Auction was also a successful project. The Membership Committee has reported a total of more than one hundred twenty members of which about 37% are fathers of children in school. Our Hospitality Committee helped end each meeting with a friendly chat over a cup of coffee or cocoa. The Student Loan Committee is anxious to have the parents of boys and girls graduating from high school, know that a loan may be made available to a graduate wishing some assistance in continuing his education or training, whether it be in a course of a few months or four years of college. The Executive Committee hopes that the large number of parents and teachers who have continued to attend the meetings, have put themselves forward and made new friends among the people of the whole central district. May we all keep in mind that one of the objects of the Parent-Teacher Association is: To bring into closer relation the home and school that parents and teachers may co-operate intelligently in the training of the child. 27
