Hay rides This year we had three hayrides. Two were sponsored by the Juniors and one by the Seniors. The first hayride ran into a little trouble. It started raining and then to top it all off the wagon broke down. Later, however, everyone enjoyed themselves eating and dancing. The next hayride was more enjoyable because it was held on Friday, the 13th of November. A Superstition Party was held after the hayride. Many games were played and there was cider, donuts and hot dogs for all. Needless to say, everyone enjoyed themselves. Roller Skating Party A new form of entertainment was introduced this year — roller skating. The roller skating parties were given by the Junior and Senior Classes. At these parties we were gratefully chaperoned by the Mealys, the Lampes, the Browns and the Faheys. Everyone enjoyed themselves. It was an opportunity for everyone to learn to skate. Spaghetti Supper The Senior Class held a Spaghetti Supper at the high school on January 25. The supper was cooked by Mrs. Art Gerardi and Mrs. Sam Gerardi. The Senior girls waited on the many people who attended the supper. This project turned out quite successfully and netted a good profit for the Seniors. West Point Trip On Saturday, November 11, 1950, at 7:15 a.m., forty students from Galway Central School started out on an all-day trip to West Point to watch the Army-New Mexico football game. We were chaperoned by Coach Mealy and Gordon Link. Cecil Anibal drove the bus. Around noon time we stopped on Storm King Highway to eat lunch, shortly after which we arrived at the Academy. Before the game started the spectators witnessed a full dress parade of the cadets. Around 2:00 p.m. the game started and it was Army’s game all the way. The final score was Army 51, New Mexico 0. Immediately after the final whistle blew, the Galway students started for home. We arrived at 9:00, tired but happy. It was an enjoyable trip and we all hope there will be more like it. 26
