V ice-President Joelle Lemke .... --- Secretary and Treasurer As the cold grey dawn streaked across the sky on September 5, l947, the Freshmen prepared for their annual initiation. The seniors were at school waiting to greet them, paddles in hand. The biggest event of their school career was over at noon. From that day on they tried to please the upper classmen. On No- vember 7, they held their first dance in honor of the seniors, who had been so kind to them during the first few weeks of school. lt was a blue-jean dance and everyone came dressed for the occasion. They showed good sportsmanship and talent in their achievements throughout the year, and from their ranks we except some good students, athletes, and musicians.

IUIWICDIH IIIGII TQCTIWIITIES The activities in Junior High have been numerous. Everyone took part in the operetta, The Magi's Gift, which was presented in December under the di- rection ot Mrs. Kuchel. We played both football and basketball this year. Two basketball tourna- ments were held here with the boys losing to Galva and Arthur and the girls wining their tournament by defeating Schaller and Auburn. The teams were in- spired by eight cheer leaders: Donna Lu Conover, Shirley Daugaard. Nancy Nelson, Normadyne Weiland, Kenneth Goettsch, Billy Schulz, Lyle Johnston, and Bob Batho. We began working tor the Ida County Spelling contest early this year as the contest was held in February. Our representative was Shirley Daugaard. We had three class parties this year on Hallowe'en, Christmas, and Valentine's Day Besides these activities we attended and enjoyed the Sophomore Dance. i
