HZHZHZHZHSHEHZ!!HZHZHZHZNZNSNZHZH282WZWZHENEHZHSMZHZMZHSUSHSHSHZHZHZNZHSH2HEHZHZHZHZHZHZHZNZNZMZNZMZHZHZNZHZNZHZ CLASS HISTORY Thumbing through the pages of memory we recall happy occurrences of our childhood school-days. In as few words as possible, we will relate to yOu the most outstanding. The class of '35 now takes its place in the long parade of graduates. The few who have kept pace with one another for these thirteen memorable years are: Wilma Wickey, Dorothy Kiesling, Marjorie Stewart, Norma Utesch, Deloise Schroeder, and Alfred Bayer. ln the fall of 1921, we first directed our little footsteps toward that place where many are made famous. We were royally ushered into kindergarten by Miss Martin. Some fun! Some say she found us so irresistible that she had many pets. Did she? Well, we won't say. You see, we were too young to understand it all. The first year of actual work was under Miss Meyer. A bit of readin', writin' and 'rithmetic was pounded into our thick skulls, and could we take it ? Our fun, it seems, had just begun. The second year was still more en- joyable. Each day Miss Garber held a session in oral reading in the little red chairs in front of the room. Exciting! Back to the old building, we enrolled in the third grade, where we gained knowledge under Miss Glorfeld. We indulged in many childish pranks, for we were becoming quite tricky. The fourth year changed us from fun-lovers to deep thinkers. We won't forget the stolid reign of Miss Kuyper. It was thrilling to start a war with paper wads, but our teacher, the field-general, soon taught us what defeat was. During our fifth year, we enjoyed the superiority of Miss Brink. We won't forget the scraps over pumping girls up in the swings. Who won? Well, the girls usually decided, so the chivalrous fighting was all in vain. At last we were to be under the same roof as the big fellow. It was under Miss Kitchen that school-life became more complicated. Perseverance was one of the classis qualities even then, so we were ready for the battle. junior High-the happy years under Miss Franck and Miss Meyer. Our seventh year was marked by preparation for the banquet, and the eighth, The Blitzen . Then-our freshmen year. when we faced those hard-fighting seniors in that bitter struggle they called initiation. Those green country kids as the seniors called them, became our friends and some of our best students. Sophomores! This year a paper contest was held. Did we win? No! How could we with all the classes against us? It was then we vowed that some- day we would show them-and we did! Another summer faded into the past, and we became juniors. We were able to give the seniors a really fine banquet. The crisis was overg prosperity was ahead. The time came when we signed our names to an enrollment card for the last time. As seniors, we administered the initiation jolts just like we re- ceived them. lt was fun-but we had earned it. That is the history of the class of '35, We are going out into the world, taking with us the memories of our old school.
