CStorm Lakel For the Best in Feeds- Direct Plant to Farmer Prices 4 Sascha Z7 The time is July 1975 and the place is the Galva Town Park. It is now 1975 and the class reunion after grad- uating 20 years before. At this reunion Miss Wan- berg, our school principal, heard what each of the graduates had been doing, and this is what she heard. George and Judy Schulke, the former Judy Else, had just, three weeks before, had their ninth boy. George now owns a 1,000 acre ranch outside of Galva. Van Schmidt is now working in Sioux City in a factory. He sands the desks but is working his way up. Ronald O'Meara and his million-heiress--had just gotten back from South America where he and his wife were spending their fifth honeymoon. Boy, but it's nice to have money! Allen Biesemeyer is now employed in the Ringling Brothers Circus. He's not a great actor yet, but he's working on it. Right now he's blowing up balloons. Marc Lorenzen is now working in a canning factory testing the taste of beans. Marc has always been a lover of beans. Janice Elze is now back to teaching. Her husband --- has had ten years of crop failure and has finally given up so Jani is now the bread winner of the family. Ronald Sherrill is still searching. What for? A woman of course. Paul Schimmer is now owner of Adams ranch and has added several sections of land to it. He's expecting Qhis wife that isj the 13th addition to his family. Paul is really a hard worker. Viddene Otto is now doing experiments in a great university. Virdene has always ad: mired and studied Dr. Kinsey. Harold Nelson is now an artist working with the Esquire Calendar Company. Harold has always been an admirer of Esquire. Jerry Moller is now married and is the father of 12 girls. He met his wife in Tennessee and refers to her as his Tennessee chick. Jo Ann Schoening and--have just accomplished a mission of 15 boys. IP This is the prophecy of the senior class of 55. Will it hold true, only time will tell. The 1954 football season, despite one heartbreaking loss, was the most successful in Blue Devil grid history. just one touchdown, scored in the closing minutes by a desperate Early team, prevented Galva from enjoying an undefeated record. The Blue Devils were victorious in six games, and were pressed by only one other team, Lake View, in the opening game. In four of the seven games they were unscored upon, and their total margin over all opponents was 149 points to 24. For the second straight season the Blue Devils finished second in the Bo-Coon Con- ference behind undefeated Early, In their battle this year Galva had the edge in the statistics, but Galvals touchdown was called back, while an Early pass late in the game was good for a touchdown. Coach Bud Kyle should have a fine nucleus of returning lettermen next year to make another strong bid for a perfect record. Sponsored by: MELODY INN Lunches-Malts-Cigarettes-Coffee'' Seauhu GEORGE SCHULKE Big and rugged, he is undoubtedly the toughest ball carrier and hardest tackler yet seen at Galva. George has been a hard driving fullback for the past three years. VAN SCHMIDT A clever ball handling quarterback who has been an important factor in Galva's T-Forma- tion attack. He will be remembered for his good passing and fine defensive work RONALD O'MEARA A speed merchant who has been a fixture in the Galva backfield. He has specialized in punt returns and sudden bursts through the line. HAROLD NELSON Harold is a big, fast lineman who blossomed out as a place kicker and punter this year. He has been a real bulwark in Galva's tough line. GERALD MOLLER A big man who will leave a big hole in the Blue Devil line. It took a good man or usually more than one to move him. ALLAN BIESEMEYER A converted center who did a fine job at end this season. Exceptionally fast, he was tough to get around on defense. VIRDENE OTTO Small of stature but mighty big in courage and spirit, Virdene was one of the top defen- sive men on the squad. All reven of there reniorr will be hard to replare when the 1955 grid rearorz rally around. FIRST ELEVEN Line: R. End, Allen Biesemeyer, R. Tackle, Craig Zabel, R. Without a senior on the entire squad, they have been handicapped by a lack of height and experience. Being a relatively' young team, they have been rather inconsistent, looking very good at times, but occasionally showing a lack of poise. As the season progressed, they showed signs of becoming a tough outfit to beat by next year. Prior to the time the Galvacade went to press the Devilettes have chalked up victories over Wall Lake, Ida Grove, and two over Arthur. junior forward jo Ann Rusch has been leading the scoring, while Karen Paulsen has been the mainstay of the back court. The Galva Blue Devils finished the 1954-55 season with a record of 7 wins and 12 defeats against some tough competition in the Pop Corn and Maple Valley Conferences. Perhaps the highlight of the year was their advancing to the finals of the Maple Valley tournament where they were edged out by Holstein's tall quintet. Senior forwards Van Schmidt and Ronnie O'Meara carried much of the offensive load, while Jerry Jensen, Craig Zabel, Don Webb, and Marc Lorenzen turned in some fine team play. Coach Kyle will have a strong nucleus of returning lettermen to bank on for the 1955- 56 season, but adequate replacements must be found for Schmidt, O'Meara, Lorenzen, and also reserves Ronnie Sherrill and Virdene Otto. The success of the Blue Devil baseball te th' am is year seems to depend upon the de- velopment of some good pitching. Veterans are on hand at most other positions, and in- dications are that the hitting and fielding departments will be capably handled. Coach Kyle will be relying on such seasoned outfielders as seniors George Schulke and Allen Biesemeyer, and junior Don Webb. In the infield will be juniors jerry Jensen and Craig Zabel from last year's team, and senior Van Schmidt behind the plate. Ronnie O'Meara, another senior, has seen action both as a pitcher and an infielder. If some of the reserves and underclassmen come along as expected, the Blue Devils should be tough to beat this spring. Sponsored by: JULIUS CLEANE Storm Lake RS. SPORTSMAN'S. INC. As the GALVACADE goes to press, it appears that the Galve track squad has en- couraging prospects for a good season. Chief interest centers around the sprint relay teams, which made such fine showing last year. Van Schmidt, Ronnie O'Meara, jerry Jensen, Allen Biesemeyer, and Craig Zabel give the Blue Devils plenty of strength in the sprints and sprint relays. Last year they appar- ently won the state Class C 440 relay crown, but were scratched on a technicality. On October 15th, the royal beauties reigned as the main attraction over the ever memorable day of Homecoming. They were announced the night before at a hepped-up Pep Rally which included a snake dance, cheers, songs, and pep talks around a big bonfire. Then the eventful day came! Everybody was rallied, excited, and full of suspense as the big game approached. Before the game the attention was drawn to the colorful parade. Then the ecstasy popped-the game was here! At half-time Judy, the queen, was crowned by George Schulke, the honorary king. The game ended in a heartbreaking defeat by Early by the score of 6-0 with the boys playing a hard fought game that could have easily been won. The day was drawn to a close with a candlelight dance in the gym sponsored by the Juniors. sf wig W 5 , V .
