T0 THE CLASS OF 1968: Congratulations upon your graduation from Galt High School. You have met the challenge of com- pleting the second stage of your formal education. It has been said that the future of our nation rests in the hands of our youth. Frankly, some of your elders shudder at the thought. You have been dif- ferent! For example, eyebrows have been raised because of your different dress, grooming, music and behavior. The fact of your non-comformity may well be that quality which will lead to your success. Your chal- lenge will be to develop those creative aspects of your individuality which are essential to our dem- ocratic society. Dare to do what is right - over- come apathy, ignorance, bigotry and abject con- formity. We are confident that the future is in good hands. LAURENCE E. LITTLETON Principal 5 Semper Paratus is a Latin slogan which a grad- uation class of some years ago might have adopt- ed. It means, Always Prepared? Always prepared for what? How can one prepare for a future he doesn't even know about or accept? And some might even question, What's the use? Let the future take care of itself. Obviously your schooling thus far has been a ser- ious attempt to be basically prepared for adult life. There are gaps in each oneis training, but the way has been paved for more learning. Perhaps the best learning of all is that you have learned HOW to learn. And to this should be added anoth- er quality necessary for a successful future - this is the quality of flexibility. Flexibility is the ability to roll with the punch- es, to adapt to the situation, to adjust to the ad- versities which try to dominate, and then to turn these adversities into opportunities. lf you will form the habit of putting learning and flexibility together, you will possess a simple com- bination for a successful and happy future. Fur- thermore, you'll always be prepared! Congratulations, graduates. You are now mem- bers of the honored Alumni of Galt High School. ORVELL K. FLETCHER District Superintendent
