I W t Q' P l vl , ,il l 1-7 H 1 n Y , PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE To the Graduates of the Class of 1957: These words of greeting, read now in August, were written before Christmas , so far ahead must we plan in this modem world! In the same way the diplomas you now possess demonstrate your planning ahead for a life of good citizenship, based upon the education you have achieved. There is a story told of a group of horsemen who were riding across a. desert area one night. Suddenly, as they were crossing a dry stream bed, a hidden voice commanded them to disrnount and to fill their pockets with stones. Some filled their pockets, some took a token few, some took none. The story relates that they were commanded then to mount again and ride on. This they did. When morning dawned they stopped and began to pull the stones from their pockets. Then they discovered that the stones were pre- cious jewels. There was rejoicing among those who had filled their pockets, grumbling from those who took only a few and outright rebellion from those who had taken none. This, of course, is a mythical story, but it well illustrates the benefits of an education: for those who seek the most the benefits will be greatest. We wish you well! Orvell K.
