eoahfackzlofcq Iam the spirit of the class of '56. Ifour years of high school have molded me into what I am. For I am ITU united, magnificent seniors. You can glimpse mr- anywherr- work is to be done. fun is to be found, memories are lmeiug stormed. I urn white lfuf-ks, tucked-in sweater. hop and jitterhug, capri pants. while C Club sweater, noisy cur, and all else which sets the fashion for C.C.lI.S. The day long ago passed since I was u meek and humhh- Irosh. The lip:-:liek and humiliation faded quickly. but the good times will always remain. I was the UB Squads. the twirlers. the FFA. Band and Concert Choir also played a leading role. Then there was Callawampus and to me this was better than Broadway. I dated upperclassmen. or sat and watched at the mixers. Iiverything I entered became fresh with youth. Noise and fun were my nicknames. Then. strangely enough, I became a sophomore. I joined all activities. never sat still. followed the example of the wise elders. But I was coming into my own. Again there was Gallawampus and It Pays to Advertise. I went steady, skied, contributed to Scribblings. Never missed a chance to do anything. I became a class of athletes and leaders. Juniors. and I was an upperclassman. I chose my class ring. There was See How They Run and HArsenic and Old Lace. I began to go to the Nite Hawk at noon and learned how to jitterbug, and joined Pep Club. My boys on the A squad helped Gallatin to a 5-2-1 record. I learned what I was made of when a boy named Rip left. I became Montana high school Champs with my ski team. I was the basketball and track teams. I went to my first State Tournament in years. Then to Interscholastic and took all honors for Gallatin's play. I participated in debate, and music festivals. But the big thing in my junior year was the Prom. As the tension rose and deadline approached, tempers snapped. But we made it and gave the seniors the best Prom in the history of Gallatin. The Mardi Gras was hard work but certainly worth it. Suddenly, all too soon, I'm a senior. I begin to realize that this is ending. The future is fast approaching and decisions must be made. I choose my caps and gowns. I plan assemblies, lead the football and basketball teams through a tough first year as members of the Big Ten. In basketball, I am the best team in the state. I take senior tests, sponsor dances, become accustomed to noisy wee Ones. National Honor Society, part-time jobs, talent show, wrestling, trips to games, ag projects, are all part of my schedule. I have good times but realize my responsibilities. Once again I am a class instead of individuals. I have senior parties-the greatest. I put out the paper and Annual. All in all I'm a very busy ghost. But I am proud to be of the class of ,56-for there will never be another class like mine.
