Sharing the dedication is Miss Madelaine Madsen. Affectionately known as M. M. to most of her students, she advises Gal's most active service club, the Lion's League. Besides ser- vice to the school, the Lion's League is known for its rollicking trips to Disneyland. These field trips would never materialized had it not been for Miss Madsen's perseverance. One can see Miss Madsen speeding to school every morn ing via her cocoa-colored Thunderbird in order to sell school items in the Robber's Roost, the store run by the Lion's League. A very loyal supporter and lover of sports, she attends all games Whether they are played at home, Kezar Stadium , or Big Rec. To Miss Madsen we extend gratitude on behalf of all the students for her con- tribution to Galileo. Dedication This is more than a dedication, it is a thank-you to Mr. Frank Brady for the endless hours he has spent as advisor of the Telescope. The night before deadline one can find him in his darkroom printing pictures, writing copy or creating a layout. Mr. Brady's home, as Well as room 452 is a yearbook Workshop. Often the staff has spent the Whole day at his home in order to meet a deadline. We, the 1963 Telescope staff, take special pleasure in this dedication because We are the only one of the Yearbook staffs , fat Galileo and at the other three high schools Where he was yearbook advi- sor,J that has succeeded in dedicating a book to him. Since most of the 1963 staff Will be gone with graduation, we hope that this Telescope will serve as a remembrance of us and as a token of our gratitude. www ,U+v+N....,, I .

PrineipaI's Message A short time ago I attended a dinner honoring a very prominent citizen and golfer. Coinciden- tally, I was seated at the table with two men who had been graduated from Galileo in the early 30's. When they heard that I was connected with this great school, a warm glow appeared on their faces. Questions were asked with great enthusiasm and rapidity. Are the Lions still there? 'fHow is that palm tree in the courtyard? Do they still have a senior bench? Is Missl still there? She used to be my reg. teacher! During the two or more hours the barrage continued with keen interest emotion and finally one of them said, I think of Galileo quite often. Every once in a while we try to get a few of our gang together and talk of our wonderful high school days. You know, he continued, sometimes we don't appreciate what a wonderful opportunity we have in high school until it's too late. Boy, I wish I had it to do over again. Soon many of you will be graduated. Each will go his own way. Though you may be miles apart, you will be held together by a common bond. . . a life line wnichubrings you together in spirit. . .because you attended Galileo. vi
