CLASS HISTORY CLASS HISTORY Fall 57 Sprung 57 Oft un the stully nught E er slumber s chaun has bound me Fond memory brungs the Iught Of other days around me The class of January l9J7, though forsakung the hallways of Galuleo, wull nonetheless carry un uts collectuve heart the fond memoru es and fruendshups of an excutung three-year stay at thus beloved unstututuon Stull reflected un our umagunatuons are the color, the pagentry, and the excutement of our furst Sprung Festuval Echoung yet un our ears are the uoyful and truumphant shouts whuch rang out over the Maruna Dustruct that June afternoon last year as the mughty Luons roared to the Cuty Baseball Champuonshup How vuvud stull us that scene on the stage as the cast of our Senuor Show took a curtaun call And can we ever clear the stars from our eyes that we gathered at our Junuor and our Senuor Proms? Wull there ever be anythung to equal the uoy and prude whuch we felt at the begunnung of thus our funal semester as our class won the Song and Yell Contest and as Galuleo made uts best showung un fuve years at the Football Pageant Speakung of prude, the members of thus class have burst more buttons showung prude for theur fellow classmen, who have been honored and acclaumed un art, muslc, drama, publuc speakung, student government, athletucs, and scholarshup Certaunly the frxendshups we have made at cosmopolutan Galuleo wull prove to be as undel uble as the pruce markung on a guft utem The spurut of cooperatuon and fruendshup whuch pre- vauls from day to day and year to year makes all Galuleans members of one bug happy famuly, and each member of thus class can truly say that he has one thousand good fruends Galuleans all And now we wull go forth from thus tume and place to many ways of the world, to countrues, cutues of men and theur luvung, and we wull re- member thungs and faces of thus place and some faces wull remember us, knowung that we were movers among them, and wuthun us wull always be memorues of thus tume and place and people and secret thungs, We are one ofa thousand thungs, and they are part of us, and always un our luvung they wull remaun a part, the furst and formatuve and the unforgetable And now to you, Galuleo, we, the graduatung class of January 1957 bud a suncere and a heartfelt farewell PAGE 8 Now that we are graduatung, a wave of nostal gua sweeps over us for our sophomore days We remember the flrst day we came to Gal, every thung was as brught and shuny as a new penny The senuors looked bug to us and senuor year looked far off Our furst pageant was new and excutung, we had never experuenced anythung luke ut before The dances and games were wonderful fun As the days rolled on we began to make new fruends The Sprung Festuval was an extra added thrull a whole day of fun and froluc, we d never seen anythlng so colorful before We saw our furst term play, Our Muss Brooks, starrung Joann Mullun Our sophomore days were swuftly goung by and before we knew ut we were IUHIOFS By thus tume the newness had worn off and the work began to get harder There were many tests we had to take before we could become senuors an studyung was our maun thought One of our own uunuors starred un the term play that year It was Barbara Waters, un Meet Corluss Archer e Sprung Festuval was made extra specual that year because Donna Balzarunu,one of our uunuors was Queen Our uunuor year dudnt go by very fast, but at last the day came when we were hugh and mughty senuors That was one year that went by very fast and everythung seemed to come and go un one bug rush We were one of the outstandung schools at the pageant, and our Senuor class won the annual Song and Yell contest Boy were we proud of ourselves Pat Maher starred un our last term play, We Shook The Famuly Tree Sublects were lughter that year and we began to realuze how much school meant to us Graduatuon crept nearer and the days were goung faster and faster Our last Sprung Festuval funally arruved The lays we had that day we wanted to keep un our munds always, for we knew never agaun would we have fun and excutement lust luke thus Now ut was only a matter of weeks before we graduated The Senuor breakfast and move-up assembly brought tears to our eyes as we realuzed we would soon graduate Our Senuor prcnuc was ful led wuth sun and fun at Adobe Creek We danced all nught at our Unforgettable Senuor Prom Then the day of graduatuon funally arruved, much to our regret Because, now when we are leavung school we thunk of the thungs we should have done and how we should have studued harder We thunk of the fun we have had and how pleasant ut wull be to recall these memorues un the years to come And as we sut on the stage we realuze that these were truly the happuest days of our luves 9 I 9 N . . . - - A 0 - ' .
