riineiipuills messei e Che mind of man is finite, and for that reason man is all too prone to place bounds and limits on his ideas and on his institutions. It is due to this quality of the human mind that it has been cus- tomary from time out of mind to regard school as a separate and distinct stage of life, and to regard graduation from school as implying the end of that stage and the commencement of another-the stage of REAL LIFE. Perhaps there was a day when there was a measure of truth in this con- ception. Wlieii youth stepped from the portals of a middle-age monastery or convent and emerged into secular life, there was a definite break in the manner of living and thinking. Certainly this is not true of the American high school of today. For high school is ALL AMERICA 'of the ages fifteen to eighteen. It is not preparation for life-it IS life. And life is a continuous process. Inasmuch as you, members of the class of january, 1941, are good Galileans, you are also good Americans. And though you graduate this month, you are still part of Galileo and Galileo travels with you. We stand with you, and are proud of you, for YOU ARE AMERICA!
