Dare To Be Different As the 1985-86 year progresses, the Redmen show their uniqueness to many. The Homecoming bonfire, with it's lawn chairs and yard ducks certainly sheds light on the individuality of this year's Seniors. Some firsts this year were quite original. Christa McAuliffe was the first teacher in space and will be remembered by many with sad thoughts of the shuttle explosion. The formation of the SADD chapter whose purpose is to assist students fight against drunk driv- ing was also something new at G-E-T. LaCrosse got their first professional basketball team, the Catbirds, who dribbled their way to the playoffs. The pep band and Pom Pon Girls each got their chance at stardom by performing at one of these games. The year was differ- ent because American Citizens became the target of terrorism and were afraid to travel. Marcos' presidency in the Phillipians was cancelled along with the Senior Ski Trip; Marcos fled to Hawaii and the senior ski bums fled to the slopes. The other sport activities didn't do well this year but the flying entertainment at the games sure made headlines! The fashions took a step back in time-broaches, stir- rup pants, and paisleys are back! Everyone expressed their own uniqueness in style. An addition to the school was a greenhouse constructed by the building trades class. This year was a time to be different and many of us were. hJhum R. TYlicld txnx) 3
