Now the season has ended and the thrill of victory and agony of defeat no longer are a part of the sports scene. Yet how many an athlete feels as if he or she was the “Lonesome Loser after refrains of encouragement cease to echo from the stands. Reach back into the deep crevices of your gray matter and relive a year filled with seemingly unending spirit. Recall that most of us came Stumblin' In a tad' late for a game occasionally, but we made up for it in The Long Run. By crowding 99 people onto a bleacher and creating a Master Jam , a cheering mass of Redmen togetherness became aroused enough to Fire up. Those cheers were always prone to Take My Breath Away - not to mention my vocal chords. Flirtin' With Disaster, some overhyped fans yelled unmentionable phrases at the other team, other fans, and referees. Others emulated a bass drum by pounding a table in the background. After a winning game, we felt like chanting We Are the Champions, whereas a lost game witnessed a great many Sad Eyes. Dances and mixers were not an uncommon sight for an occasional spaz attack. Jitterbugging teachers (who shall remain nameless) even got into the action and let their hair down. Pep rallies were common mob sights and participants responded to the theme We Don't Talk Anymore.' Rowdy Redmen failed to converse and instead put across earsplitting stanzas of 80, 81, 82, 8}” that alternated between classes. Next year and in years to follow, let it be known that only the Cowards of the County will fail to show his or her face at Redmen activities. Denise Marcella 13
