IMAGES C Pretend that you are a newcomer to G.E.T. and you're strolling through the school for the first time. What impression do you get as you walk down the halls and past classrooms? What are the images of G.E.T.? Your senses are awakened as you pass the classrooms. In Mrs. Nelson’s room there is only the scratching of pencils; in Room 6 somebody just cracked a joke and everyone is laughing (except Mr. Myers). Students are hard at work in the library, and down the hall you smell fresh bread, varnish, and silk-screen ink — everyone's busy there. At the end of the hall typewrit- ers clack in Room 19 and bombs exploding in Room 30, where Mr. Christianson is showing war movies. If you are here after school, you will probably meet some athletes — male and female. In all sports, the Redmen have what it takes! What is the athletic image of G.E.T.? It is one of hard work, confi- dence and the drive to win. Maybe you saw a group of girls going to office practice, perhaps you saw some seniors talking to Mr. Lund about their fu- ture. G.E.T. has a career image of con- cern-of looking and planning ahead. As you go down the hall, take notice of the big posters on the walls, courtesy of the Pep Club. If it is Homecoming Week, you'll see class posters and everyone will be wearing bibs and socks, Star Wars outfits. If you came for the parade, sorry — it's raining! — but come on in for the pep rally and see the whole school stand up to cheer for the mighty Redmen! You'll see who fires up G.E.T. fans. The social image of G.E.T.? It is one of fun, of friends, and of having a good time to break up the routine of school. Then, long after the buses depart, look outside. If you see V's yellow Cherokee and Mr. Z's Jeep, leaving and Mr. Fitz- patrick and Mr. Howard walking home, you know that it's the end of another day at G.E.T. Beth Hill 2
