For the Gale-Ettrick High School Band and their new director, the 1968-69 school year started off with the big task of performing a marching half- time show at each of the varsity home football games. The band also traveled to Stevens Point and LaCrosse, Wis. to add color and music to two col- lege homecomings. A color guard and new set of flags were added to the marching band. The color guard also presented colors at the home basketball games. The concert band schedule included taking part in the Christmas Concert, the Spring Music Festival, and presenting one concert of their own as well as competing in music contests.

Bach to pop--sacred music to folk songs--con- test music to fun songs--we sing them all. The Christmas concert and also the spring con- cert gave the choirs a chance to show the audience that we sing because we enjoy it and are especially happy when we can share it with others. Music contest time was a period of frantic preparation, exciting moments of performance, and breathless waiting for the judges results.
