During the summer of this year the library club sent Sue Erickson to a workshop for student librarians at the University of Wisconsin. Last fall a delegation of six members attended a SLAW convention at Desote High School. Following the Holmen football game on October 18, the library club spon- sored a mixer featuring the theme Spooky . On our tour of the La Crosse Public Library during November, we were in- troduced to many new techniques and facilities incorporated into this ultra-modem building. Official membership in the state SLAW organization was completed, and we sent repre- sentatives to the state meeting in May. Other activities included initiating eleven new members on February 8, to fill our constitutional quota of thirty-five members, and observation of National Library Week in April by publicizing and encouraging reading. Concluding the yearly activities was the presentation of service awards to deserving members on Day of Honors Convocation.

After the students voiced their desire for a student lounge, the student council delved into the problem and came up with a reasonable substitute. The gym was opened at noon, ping-pong tables were set up and a record player was provided. Student Council: S. Dettinger, C. Anderson, R. Oines, E. Peterson, E. Paiva, J. Cantlon, G. Oines, R.
