The Meat Team of 1958 consisting of Lewis Lebakken, Russel Johnson and Richard Peterson have established a record in judging teams that will be extremely difficult for any team or school to match. Competing in the State Judging Contest at Madison April 14th - 1958 they not only were the top team in a group of 40 but ranked 1st, 2nd, and 3rd as individuals in the contest. Again competing as a representative of Wisconsin at the National Contest held in October in Kansas City against 32 state champions they not only were one of six teams in the gold medal group but won over Kansas City-Beloit by a very narrow margin for top honors in the country. Beloit and Gale-Ettrick were the only towns whose members all rated individual gold medals. Hail to the national champions. F.F.A.
