Lebakken Riley Emmons, Gary Hammond, Robert Johnson, Mr. Beadle Gale-Ettrick judging teams have won several state championships in meat, in grain and in live- stock; but the 1957 Dairy Cattle Team, consisting of Rovert Johnson, Riley Emmons and Gary Hammond, was the first local team ever to win a state championship in their field. Our team competed against 125 other FFA judging teams at Madison, April 8, 1957, and won first place. This made them eligible to compete in the National Dairy Show which was held at Waterloo, Iowa. September 30. Our team, which represented Wisconsin at the contest, was one of six states to win the highest honor-The Gold Emblem Award.
