The first day of high school for 65 of us kids-“greenies” was what the upper-classmen called us a little scornfully. We took a lot of good na- tured ribbing this year, especially at Initiation when we really got the works. To get the first year off to a good start we elected our officers as follows: President was Barton Lund, Vice-President was Lois Montgomery, Sec.-Trea. was Nancy Ander- on, and Student Council representative was JoAnn Zahorik. We had one classmate leave us and this was Butch Mikels who moved to Onalaska. In the spring we moved from the old school to the new modern one. Our first big party after initiation was the Sadie Hawkins Day party held in Oct. This gave the braver girls a chance to hook their guy! The next big event, which was loads of fun, was the Christmas par- ty; each class put on an original skit which they wrote in English class. Although ours was not very well organized it did bring many laughs. We had a busy year ahead of us now; So not wasting any time we got our offi- cers set up. They were: President-Larry Zenke, Vice-President-Lowell Trocinski, Secretarv-Larry Erickson, Treasurer-Diane Willis, Student Council Representatives- JoAnn Zahorik and Paul Twesme. Several of our classmates left us this year.. .. Anna Redsten was married and Bob Jick and Roger Thurston went into the Air Force. Our Junior class play was “The Man On The Stairs” with a cast of nine and directed by Mrs. Blankenhorn. Our class rings, which came in November, had us all so excited we could hardly talk. For awhile their gold flashes were all you could see up and down the hall. Next came the prom. The theme was “Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White” and Russ Nelson was our orchestra. King and Queen were Johnny Mack and Nancy Anderson. Their court consisted of Lowell Trocinski and Lynn Rail, Carols Alvarez and Doris Halderson, Kenny Johnson and Wanda Larson, Don- nie Oines and Lynda Johnson. Badger Boy’s State representative were Barton Lund and Paul Twesme. Girl's State representatives were Nancy Anderson and Myrtle Anderson. Barton Lund received the Spade and Diane Willis received the Spoon. SOPHOMORE YEAR We knew what things were all about this year. . . .no more “greenie” stuff for us. We went to work right away and picked Carlos Alvarez as our President, Gary Gunderson-Vice-President, Donnie Oines as Sec.-Treas., and Lois Montgomery as our Student Council Representative. Myrtle Van Riper left us this year. Our class was well represented in Cheerleading too; Anna Redsten became an “A” team Cheer- leader and Diane Willis and Lois Montgomery were ‘B” team Cheerleaders. New teachers who joined our faculty staff this year were: Mrs. Opland, Mrs. Gore, Mrs. Kittleson, and Mr. Winter. We were proud to have our class well represented in the State Music Contest too by Lynda Johnson, Paul Twesme, Bart Lund and lone Sal- Paul Twesme was elected president for our last year in high school. Vice-Presi- dent was Nancy Anderson, Secretary was Lynda Johnson, and Treasurer was Janet Krueger. Our Student Council representatives were Barton Lund, Virginia Johnson, Wanda Larson, and Dick Ames. Larry Redsten dropped out this year. Ruth Scar- seth entered from Logan and George Capaul entered from Tomah. Elaine Toma left us to go to California. Diane Willis and Lois Montgomery were “A” team cheer- leaders. We really had fun at initiation, too, making up for that long-ago time when we, too, were lowly “freshies.” Homecoming was the next big issue. Stan Thurston was our orchestra at the dance, with Paul Twesme and Dena Dusseau a King and Queen. In their court were: Carlo Alvarez, Patsy Corcoran, Myron Brvhn, Marlene Mitchell, Barton Lund, JoAnn Zahorik, Lois Montgomery, and Kenny Johnson. Co- editors of the annual were Nancy Anderson and Lois Montgomery. Lois Montgom- ery was awarded the D.A.R. award this year. We were very proud of our basketball team this year. The boys coached by Rudy Ellis finished the year with a 20-3 record. They won the Coulee Conference Championship, and went on to win the sub-district and district tournaments. This gave them the chance to go to the sectional tourna- ment at Boscobel where they won he consolation. omonsen. SENIOR YEAR Aslesens Minneapolis 15, Minn. Bailey Bailey Winona, Minn. E. R.
