JL ,-. , M' ' '-wa I A Galesburg High School Band had the fortunate opportunity to play at Virginia Beach. They were rated one of the top five bands in the country. The 11th Animal Virginia Beach Music Festival was held during the week of June 11-17, High hopes and nervousness met the competition in concert. inspection, half-time show events, parades, along with sight reading. Miss Sally Rynott instructed the hand, while Rex Culson conducted. Two selections that the band played were the HSardar Routinei' and 6'Scheherazade',. ln nu- merical rating, the GHS hand received a score of 360.3 pointsg 400 was perfect. They obtained several firsts and seconds which were indicative of superior and excellent ratings. At the end of the hectic week, the band was greeted on Sunday, June 18, hy Calesburg residents at the GHS Van Dyke Football Field. Disappointment that they did not place in the top three was evident.
