Made lepaaimenl paedenlld . . . l'7fae aaalowe As the ballet line sets a graceful pose and the chorus and orchestra strike the tempo, the cur- tain opens to the gay mood ot The Fortune Teller, a musical comedy by Victor Herbert. The plot revolves around a lottery ticket, which supposedly is in the possession ot lrma, a member ot the ballet. She is in love with Ladislaus, ot the Royal Hussars, but because she has the lottery ticket, the Count Wishes her hand in marriage. When Ladislaus hears of the plot to steal his love, he devises a scheme to substi- tute Musette, a GYPSY, in lrma's place.
