This is the spirit of GHS. This is her livelihood. These are her echoes ot laughter, and these are our memories ot exams and classes. This is her tight- ing body that has won and lost. The years may bring new faces and lose others, but the spirit does not change. It is an indestructible thing. Meet them .... you may already know them, and you may be one ot them. GHS is proud of her spirit. This spirit and the friendly halls make GHS what we shall remember. GF Gt-IS

THE SPIRIT This is GHS: our school and halls of learning tor three years. We'Ve walked through these corridors without giving them much thought, but now as We look at them we begin to think. Each hall and stairway led us to a class room Where we learned and studied. They led us to fun and sometimes more un- pleasant things. Here We meet our friends and teachers. Here we come and go, and now we look upon you, GHS, and say it's been great. We wo1'1't forget your long corridors. We won't forget you and your many classrooms. No, GHS, We Won't forget.

MISS VELMA PAY WHITE We dedicate this 1950 yearbook to the memory of one who dedicated her life-'s work so that others could be happy. Miss Velma Fay White is a name that will forever live in the halls of GHS and the hearts of her friends. We'll remember her as a guide in our educational life, for she was a great teacher. We'll remember her as a guide in our personal life, for our problems were hers. Above all we shall remember her for the woman that she was, outstanding and loved by all who knew her. She was like a mirror of goodness, because all who looked at her could not help but reflect a bit of this same virtue. Through working with her we have learned the way of righteousness. Through knowing her we have learned the way of true friendship. Through watching her we have learned that she had no enemies, for her philosophy of life came from the Great Teacher. Through losing her we experienced the loss of one very dear to our hearts and yet her ways shall never be lost, for they will live on long after her. It is surely only fitting that we dedicate our yearbook to one so deserving. Our only regret is that we must leave so much unsaid, but it lies beyond our power to rightfully express our gratitude. To your memory, Miss White, let us say that this is our way of sincerely thanking you for the many great things attributed by your work and winning ways. All that knew you and those that wished they had known you better shall never forget you, the friend who meant so much to them. This is our small tribute to you, Miss Velma White.
